I think rendering distance for engine trails and engines is to small. Look at login screen, it suddenly disapears when raptors fly away from the camera. How about new options to graphic section ( current distance must be interpreted as "medium" ). Like a "lod quality", which affects on rendering distance for ships .

The problem is the smaller ships have such a thin trail beyond orbiting distance they would pretty much disappear anyhow. Frigs are just large enough to see at this distance. Once the icon basically replaces the ship model at distance, I don't think it needs a trail.
Don't even know why drones have trails. You cant even see your own drones orbit trails around you because they are so tiny. Can only see them if you actually look at the drone itself and how often does anyone do that after the first time?

How about an option for the targeting overlay that would apply a directional trail to all ship icons. More uniform and single trail and much shorter to show path info at any range. Colored the same at the icons color, White= white trail, yellow, red etc.

Not that looking at velocity numbers in a panel for combat 100% of the time isn't oh so fun. But a more visual option for basic info would be nice. Just like miss animations.
