Caldari Citizen, it does seem like you and 200 others have covered yourselves in meat and then went wandering amongst lions.

Nothing says that the lions will eat all 200, but it seems rather odd for you to think you wouldn't get savaged.

That you've had the name for 7 years isn't the point.

Boo ******* hoo.
The more people know you exist, the more likely your name is to get reported. Now you can whine and cry about it, like the entitled ***** you are, but unless the person goes full exceptional individual and admits to gaming the system, there's jack **** you can do.

Goddamn, you mad! You completely missed the joke.

You're the one that upset here.

Actually, we are just having a good time. You come in and start spitting venom. I try to calm you down by clearly poking fun at myself. Yet you are so angry, that you don't even realize it and just stay on the attack like some kind of wet, angry cat. Relax dude.

Here you go, some English 101, basic stuff.

Moral of the story is, don't argue with someone if you don't have a masters on the topic, and they do. K?

My dear, I can assure you that if you put 'an' in front of any word that started with any hard y-like sound in an essay submitted to any academic professional, you would be corrected, and much more harshly than I did too because it would affect your grade. You don't say, 'an yoo-phemism'. Say it out loud, go ahead, it sounds just as stupid as 'an yellow car' or 'an hero' doesn't it? Why did I use 'an hero'? Because people make the same mistake you just made all the time with both letters H and Y. I see people write 'a hour' in emails and I always know it's an intern somewhere that's writing it, fresh out of the US 'education' system.

No, I use the phrase "an hour". It's a clearly different case. Now I get that English isn't your native language, so I'm willing to cut you some slack, but just because your accent makes you pronounce words not like the rest of us, doesn't mean that the proper pronounciation is the one you think it is.

Why are you assuming that I don't? Moreover, how do I know that you're not lying, or let's say have gotten your degree in some third world country?

I'm pretty relaxed, you're the one telling people that they're mad out of the blue just because they're having a conversation in public.

Degree is irrelevant. I proved you wrong. Own it or cry about it moar, it's up to you.

Proved me wrong? Hardly. See mister, I have a piece of paper from Cambridge that expressly states that I know English. If you feel that you're right, take it up with them and try to explain your predicament in a way that will make sense and will not get you laughed at.

This isn't a scenario where a week old character is reported with an offensive name, which i imagine happens fairly frequently. The individual here has had the same name for 7 years which, to put into perspective as others have mentioned, is longer than many employees have been working for CCP itself. This character has openly flown around and participated in new eden for over 85 months with no or minimum protest, objection, or grievance.

Just because nobody reported him for 7 years, doesn't mean that the wasn't offensive.

Ah, this again. How/when did people start thinking that they have some sort of inherent right to not be offended?

I blame the publik skool system.

We've already established that you're the one using it wrong. It's ok tho, people do mistakes all the time.

Actually, you've established nothing of the sort, whereas I have posted this high school english lesson for your benefit, which you've quite happily ignored.

Note: "'A' and 'an' are articles, not prepositions. 'A' is correct here because 'euphemism' starts with a /j/ sound. It is the sound, not the spelling, that determines indefinite article choice."

You can't even get your sounds correct Roll

Please, find me ONE professional example of 'an euphamism' being used, preferably in something academic. Link it here. Make a case. Or, cry moar. Claiming to have made a case when you haven't will be translated as moar crying. Projection = moar crying. In fact, posting anything other than evidence of your assertions = moar crying.

I'm actually quite surprised at the momentum my post has stirred. If i may, let me focus on a few points for discussion.

First and foremost, should the length of a characters existence have any effect on the decision of a name change. There would be more petitions from more people early in the characters career if the name was so offensive, and thus CCP would have taken action sooner, correct?

Second, is there reasonable cause to suspect that the ISD/administrator made the decision based on his/her feelings of the questionable scenario the character is involved in, along with the circumstances of the original petition? And if so, is this ok, and to what extent?

Third, should said individual have the right to change his name after CCP, or an individual with administrative authority working under CCP, has made the decision that it is indeed offensive and should not be allowed? I've heard rumors of the possibility of this having already occurred, and Anal being given the opportunity to change his name beyond "racial citizen number" status. if this is the case though, i would still like to hear any argument as to why this shouldn't be allowed.

I encourage people to please try to stay on topic, as i know this is a sensitive issue to some people seeking answers and resolutions.

Euphemism starts with a ю sound. But then again, you can't even spell the word properly, so I shouldn't be wasting my time on you.

Are you implying that an education in a 3rd world country is somehow "beneath" an education in a more privileged country?

I find that elitist and offensive.

No, there was that post of yours a few posts back that I think may well have had more *'s in it than actual letters. Right about then is when the group here decided you're probably a little angry.
