Yeah, fish is one of those things that you gotta be delicate with. Personally, I like a bit of smoked salmon on a couple of slices of lightly toasted turkish bread with some poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. Basically an eggs benedict, but with salmon instead of ham. Best to make the hollandaise fresh though, but if you're lazy, there is some storebought stuff you can get that isn't completely terrible. In Australia, anyway.

By using American mustard, you officially announce to the world that you have no taste anyway so really, the guy you once knew isn't doing anything completely abnormal.

I don't believe in any such thing as an 'Ameritard'. I know we Aussies call you these nasty things like Seppos (seppo = septic tank = rhyming slang for yank, both are full of ****) but, personally, I think Americans have just fallen for a trap set by the dilution of culture by rejecting true multiculturalism. Because that seems to be what the American way has become, dilution. Dilution of cuisine, dilution of language, dilution of culture in general. It's sad, really, to see a nation which once was a true land of opportunity lose so much opportunity.

There was a time when I could see Australia being as great as the US was. I was young and naive, but now I've grown up. Now I'm afraid of Australia becoming as bad as the US is.

In the meantime, though, we still have good beer, so I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Culture sparks imagination. Culture is also a driving force for advancement and achievement, as well as being the result of advancement and achievement. Culture's that learn from one another while retaining their identities achieve more than cultures that exclude others. This is why North Korea is consistently dark on satellite images, while most of the rest of the world is somewhat well lit. I'd go into more detail but, this thread is about cake and/or pie, so I don't really want to.

While your reasoning is true, at least to a fault, and my fellow derps have been certainly engineered to be, and love, a lack of any depth whatsoever. Be it flavor, or otherwise. Their never ending defense of solidified culture-lag has made them tards by default. If you need any proof you're welcome to come visit the US midwest. :] Luckily we get plenty of imported beer here.

Hey, if Fox news can successfully troll half of America using North Korea to create panic, don't see why I can't.

However....

"All scientific advancement due to intelligence overcoming, compensating for limitations. Can't carry a load, so invent wheel. Can't catch food, so invent spear. Limitations! No limitations, no advancement. No advancement, culture stagnates! Works other way too. Advancement before culture is ready, disastrous." ~ Mordin Solus

I know it's from a game, but I was actually studying cultural topics at the time I played this and heard this said, and I couldn't believe what I was hearing, it put into a paragraph exactly what I was writing a thesis about. I'm too drunk to write an essay on it all right now so all I can do is hope that you're able to make the connection yourself. It's true, culture and technological advancement are more intertwined than you might know.

Sorry, I cant say that changes the fact that what people call culture is an excuse to avoid having to think.

That's not what real culture is at all. What people refer to as 'culture' when they're making excuses to avoid legitimate, progressive change, is not culture at all, it is the stagnation Mordin talks about. Tradition =/= culture, it is a byproduct of cultural stagnation.

The same people arguing against cultural progression are the same people arguing against environmental progression and science in general. When you notice that, you start to learn what real culture is.

But, if you'd prefer, cuz I know I'd certainly prefer, I wasn't really looking for an academic dialectic on the meaning of culture tonight, and at this point I'm prepared to agree to disagree and move on with the ***** and giggles instead.

Well, dumping Rudd-Gillard for Abbott was a move in the right direction.
Rescuing boat people lost at sea and returning them to their home countries before they make landfall and spread disease sounds like common sense to me.

Not much you can do about the lousy internet latency and high prices though.
