That is literally what it means, yes. Wardecs do not exist to make people corp hop, to suggest that is the case is pure speciousness. They exist to allow you to attack the people you decced without CONCORD interference.

If dodging is permitted, wardecs do not perform their intended function.

Sure they do. War Declarations target corporations, not individuals. So if the corporation disbands, congratulations, you've destroyed an entire corporation without firing a shot.

If you actually think that, then you're a bigger fool than I first thought.

No, just less than sympathetic that current game mechanics make it moderately more difficult to farm small corps for killmails and ransom.

Then you've completely missed the point. Of both this thread, and of EVE Online.

so basically the tl;dr has come down to "i don't like that players can evade wardecs targeted at corporations"?

Wrong.

You can try again though if you want, although it costs fifty million isk.

What's a corporation? What's a player? Who's a tomato? These are the important questions that nobody is asking.

My own opinion on wardeccing, wardec dropping, and everything else that belongs with it, It'll be long, and my own two cents.

I believe that Wardec dropping, has a far more in depth issue at hand

I've been in Merc corps my entire time in EVE, so that's a little over a year, and I do mean that entire time, minus maybe two weeks. When I started in the 'business', I knew what I was getting into, I understand what could happen. That I would lose ships, and probably be ineffective on my own, hell, even now, at 20 mi spl and a far larger knowledge base on the mechanics that run eve. I feel ineffective at solo. But I love the game, and I love to fight.

Despite what some people say, EVE is entirely PVP oriented, it's a competitive social game, that encourages foul play, teamwork, and risk, to be successful. I can not even to begin to explain, how much I love the emotion that comes from this game. I love the fact that I can be AWOX, stolen from, cheated, burned alive at the stake at any given moment. But even though those are harsh issues to deal with, I fully understand that they exist, and they can be a present problem at all times.

The reason why I understand that they are present, is because I was taught those lessons from the first moment I started playing. My first corp, was laughably lead by a known AWOXer, who (Thankfully) actually took a liking to us. This guy was there to teach, show you how to fly, and take you out to have a basically good time. He played the game for about three years before I joined, and he was able to teach me about the game in a far better way than any wall of text could. And Even though we had him around.

We still died horrible to a 4v2 fight in lowsec Vs a Myrm and Griffen with our Thorx Rupture Corm, Thrasher. We died horrible in wardecs. I lost ships in stupid ways. All of this can be said about any player, who tries to fight other players in EVE.

But what is the difference, between what I did, and the members of the corps I am at war with?

Simple, I was taught from day one, how to play the game. I had people to guide me, show me how to fit, how to kite, what does what, what not to do, and what to do. I was helped with skill training, helped with fitting, helped with basically everything I could as for. From other competent players in the my corp.

Most people in High-sec and live in Highsec do not have this advantage. Most of the PVPers either head to lowsec, Null, or join the Mercs.

This inherently causes problems for newer players who join the game without friends to play with, or worse join with friends who never leave highsec and focus completely on PVE activities.

A new player joining a High-sec PVE corp, is not taught how to fight, he his taught how to maximise his Isk/hr. He isn't shown how to kite, or brawl. Why it's better to fit a Cap booster over a battery. How fit a basic PVP Merlin. I've seen PVE pilots come at me in there PVE ships. No points, still tanked for the mission there were running, They are fitted for range, but have no mods to help them control range.

They are taught that the Merc corps, are jerks. Griefers and people who get kicks out of making other people feel like poop. They think that just because they are in the game to play PVE they should be allowed to play the PVE part of EVE unhindered. They are taught they if I wardec I intend to grief and bully you.

But what they don't understand is that is not the case.

Most wardeccers want fights. Easy kills are nice, and I'll take any dolt who wants to mine during wardec without hesitation. However I would be happier, if they would fight back. I want small gang fights from my wardecs. The only problem is more often than not, the player base in EVE, doesn't not want to fight because they do not understand that they do have a fair chance of beating the wardecs and getting some good kills.

What causes highsec war dodgers to dodge wars is simple, they do not have the confidence in themselves to win. They do not understand that they can win. You can beat the ever loving **** of most merc corps. Just gather up some peeps sit all in a trade hub that has maybe one or two of your wartargets in system, and just ******* all undock at once, primary one dude, he will either melt horribly or dock up.

Guess what, you just one-upped a Merc. I've seen people lose Vindi's, because a their wartargets just waited for the perfect opportunity to ambush him, with 25 ravens. My old corp, has ambushed other merc corps like that, sit in a trade hub, wait until your wartarget gets a combat timer, and then just Zerg rush him with DPS and webs.

So what I mean by all this. Is fairly simple. Players that complain about Wardecs, and find ways to avoid them, are not taught properly about the game and how it works. The Tutorial system is retardedly broken and absurd. It doesn't teach a player anything important about HOW things work in EVE. Nor does teach information in a correct formula.

The reason you see so many newbies duel tanking? Is because the tutorial actually teaches them how both types of tanking, without properly explaining them. The reason they think wardec are filled with griefers? Is because the Tutorial doesn't even mention what a Wardec is, or how it happens.

If the tutorial system could be revamped, to be broken into sections, that a player could choose to learn, after the starting lesson, a player can click on a list of things, suchs as,

Tanking, 1. Tanking basics 2. Shield tanking, 3. Armor Tanking 4 Other types of tanking, (Speed Sig so on)

Then you can have the ending lessons be more about the meta, Wardeccing, stealing, AWOXing, Player Corps, and so on.

By making the game more understandable, you make it so the players feel more confident to be in the game.

TL;DR version: EVE has a hard time with it's new players because the tutorial is broke and teaches misinformation.

So much this.

I would love to know why so many of the rest of you think that CCP designed and intended wardecs to have the effect of changing someone's corp name and costing them a few million isk.

"My own opinion on wardeccing, wardec dropping, and everything else that belongs with it, It'll be long, and my own two cents."

So what you're saying is that you're doing what you enjoy in EvE?

And everyone else not doing what you do are not playing properly so can't be enjoying it?

The tutorial has nothing to with it, everyone in every game ever made will always find their own niche in it, a part of the game they enjoy. They'll also avoid parts of the game they don't enjoy.

Before I came here I played another MMO, not as complex as this but nonetheless a PvP oriented game with gathering professions as well. Erm not WoW, yeah I have played it though.

I was the top ranked player on the server for between 18/24 months, and guess what?

I got vilified on the forums, in game, by messages etc, simply because I didn't play the game as the vocal minority thought I should. I played how I wanted to play and was hated for it, they were as insistent as some in this thread that players must be playing the game the wrong way simply by using the play styles available.

I still play a PvP game everyday, I use this game to chillout, I find parts of it very relaxing.

Others want to spoil that, fine, why moan about game mechanics though when I don't let you?

edit, I tried to quote post 133? but it wouldn't let me for some reason.

Hey, sounds like being a suicide ganker. I get death threats on a fairly regular basis, not to mention vile sexual insults from people arguing the exact same viewpoint you're spouting at me.

And all because I PvP in a PvP game.

The same CCP that actively touts metagaming/the use of alts for spying/stealing/disrupting/doing pretty much anything you can think of?

That CCP is the one you think holds War Decs to be the gold standard of honor, where when faced with one you must stand toe to toe and fight to the noble bitter end?

Answer the question.

If you think wardecs are working as intended, why do you think that CCP designed them to have the functional effect of costing someone nothing more than their corp name?
