External display color balance change in windowed mode

I recently set up an external monitor for my macbook pro, and I have EVE open in windowed mode on the external display. I'm now experiencing a weird phenomenon -- when EVE (in windowed mode) is the active window, the entire external display changes its color profile to be the settings used by the built-in display, so the whole thing is beige-tinted, including the desktop and any other open windows (i.e. it's not colors within EVE, it's actually changing the display settings in OS X). Then when I unselect EVE and choose another window or the desktop as the active window, the display reverts to proper coloring. This doesn't happen when EVE is on the native laptop display, only when the window is dragged to the external display.

Any ideas why this is happening or how to prevent it?

Thanks very much.

UPDATE: It appears to only happen when the built-in laptop screen is the primary display and the external monitor is the secondary display. When I switched the external monitor to be the primary, selecting the EVE window on it does not change its display color settings.
