I believe it is a game where you collect ten wolf pelts and deliver them to a gnome or some such.

I'm sorry. I just didn't know better all these years. Sad

It's only a Darwin Award if I'm out deliberately screwing around where wild wolves live and trying to play with them like I think they're regular dogs.

If I happen along a pack that is somewhere other than where they're supposed to be, and this situation arises through no fault of my own, it'd really be more of an altruistic self-sacrifice.

No, I'm pretty sure telling people not to kill the thing that is eating you for any reason and under any circumstances is worthy of a Darwin Award.

Of course, we all know that altruistic attitude would disappear completely the moment fang actually pierced skin for the first time (if not before) so it's all pretty academic.

That graph doesn't fit. Blizzard nerfed complexity and hardcore Dave left the game years ago, after WotLK hit.

*sigh*

I want to agree with this assessment. But I can't.

This is going to sound arrogant as hell, and maybe it is, but I put very little effort into the game at this point. Initially, yes, I would say for your first two years it behooves on to put in extraordinary effort into this game. It's not an easy one, that's for sure.

Casual chris will die in this game. That's all he will do. He'll hate it. The chart is 100% dead-on there.

However, you can't make a blanket statement like this. Once you've put in the effort, and found at least 3-4 playstyles you dig and rock at, you can absolutely play this game casually and with little effort. For me the red line was realizing... deeply... that this is a game about playing other players. If you fundamentally comprehend that you will stop mining and running missions. That's when the game actually gets fun to the point where you are ruined for other games and roll your eyes at other MMOs.

I don't even keep up with MMO news anymore. I just don't care.

It's actually a nice saving grace for me personally. If I hadn't found EvE I might be playing lame MMOs forever trying to find what's natively available here. Do our CCP overlords know how to manage their company and advance the gameplay at a reasonable pace? Hell no. But... just as EvE has been dieing all of these years, I don't think EvE will ever die. The philosophy of the game overwhelms the lackluster performance of the Devs. There simply isn't anything like it anywhere. It's the best game ever made.

That's the ugly truth.

EvE is not inaccesible. It's an easy game to play. It's just hard to understand.

I am a meat popsicle.

Due to its sandbox nature EVE is not an inherently challenging game. Some activities are more challenging than others, and some have virtually no challenge at all.

The biggest challenge new players have with EVE is navigating the horrific UI.

Ezwal, I saw you like my post!! That's the second post of mine that you've liked on these forums now, what's going on? Are you actually enjoying my antics?

Falcon liked one too the other day, it made me blush a little. He's so sexy.

I was in the war (the real one... not some in-game war.... but I was in that, too). I'm pretty sure being eaten by a wolf is far preferable to teaching a brand-new 2LT how to land nav.

Also: if the wolf is already eating me, chances are, I'm going to die whether you kill the wolf, or not. If I'm still alive while this is happening, shoot ME instead of the wolf. He's got a decent meal... I, on the other hand, am far less happy.

Again.... critical thinking is your friend. Your jock-level stretch for any old insult isn't very becoming.

"Fun" on the X-axis is the lie, amirite. "Effort" too. this thread is just a big dutch rudder of people who want to think EVE is leet. but it's not. how far do you think I'd get quadboxing, dodecaboxing LoL? if eve is fun, how come it's so popular? it's a good thing the loss is measured in real dollars, cuz tournament prizes sure as hell aren't.

It's kind of like this game except that it is an online chat room for fantasy nerds whereas EVE is an online chat room for space nerds.

pretty sure EVE is one of the lowest APM games out there. guarantee it's the lowest in tidi. at least those other games are relevant and people know what you're talking about. saying i play eve is such a conversation non-starter, nowadays I just say I play battlefield.

Hope to see some duders around~

it's still more solid than "fun" and "effort." try plotting games including eve by APM and player base, see what you get.

It's a man-eating wolf. While it may be nice of you to offer yourself as a last meal, critical thinking requires it gets a bullet, which is why the gnome will give you 50 copper if you kill 10.

I saw a friend of mine collecting spider eyes and almost all of them had less than 2 in total. What kind of spiders are those?
