I was expecting more space elfs to stop by, or maybe just hoping that they would. Are we truly becoming extinct? Have our space elf bloodlines diluted into the general populace? I am not opposed to these things, of course, because such are the ways of space life, but I cannot help but feel a certain sense of loss.

Even the somewhat-elfish have been rare, far more rare than I thought. Anabella (almost) and Jinari (less so) are the only ones that somewhat qualify, that might have had some space elf blood in their distant space family space tree.

With all of this in mind, I suppose I shall expound on the criteria of space elfishness.

1) Sight of the Elfs. Elfs are clear of eye, unhindered of vision. We can "see" far into future times, and have not yet lost sight of the ancient past. The vast swatches of space are no barrier to our comprehension. Sometimes rejected by those who cannot handle the truthsight.

2) Forest of the Elfs. Every one of the space elfs carries a bit of the magical, mystical, exotic space forests with them. Though this is not a sure thing; space trees can be space-felled, after all. Can also be hidden by those ashamed of their elfselfs.

3) Artistry of the Elfs. Every elf is a canvas, and every elf clan holds a collective brush. The poetries of generations past, present, and yet to come are traced upon our very elf selfs. May be missing from elfs divorced from their culture.

So there, gentle guests. I have shared with you some deep elfin secrets. If I am alone as a space elf I suppose it does not even matter any more, breaking such a taboo. The other signifiers of elfinhood are secondary: litheness of frame, appreciation of space elf space wine, and so forth. These are not at all limited to elftypes.

Here. Wine. Wine for all. Just drink around my tears.

That sounds like Thukkers.

Point 1 is often attributed only to shamans, but of course, they tend to speak in riddles so it's not really that easy to discern the truthfulness of their vision. Way too many ways to interpret.

Point 2 refers mostly to clans that used to thrive in forests. Far as I know they had forests in ships meant for residence in their caravans. Space caravans, obviously. Poetry part is true to the Matari in general, as well as parables. We have lots of poetry. I think there's several relating to maintenance. And the things we can do with machines can sometimes appear magical to the uninitiated, but this is true for all cultures, I believe. Seriously, how many engineers are harangued by the everyman with questions such as 'How the devil did you do that?'

Point 3 is true to all Matari. Our body is the canvas, our tattoos are our paint. Together, they tell stories of the individual who possessed them, their trials, tribulations, accomplishments, etc. And very physically active Matari tends to develop lean muscles instead of bulky ones, so I guess litheness sort of apply. We also appreciate alot of things. Wine (something we got from our former masters), coffee, tea, etc etc.

Very, very interesting. I'm inclined to wonder at the depth of connection between the peoples. How exactly do the physical properties of one become the metaphysics of another? The propagation of elfpaint ("tattoos" as you call them) across many cultures certainly suggests that the spacemen appreciated us enough to ape our cultural practices, even if they make a sad mockery of our beautiful art (looking at you, Caldari). Even the obsession with forests, and bringing your own terrestrial forests into space to copy elfs' actual space forests... hmmm.

I'm inclined to wonder how much is blood, and how much is rightful worship. The similarities in form suggest the former, though appreciation of the best things (and all of the points above) could be the latter. Something to think upon (and drink to), for sure.

You can't deny that you have a Large Titan called a Leviathan (refer to Large Titan) bearing entire cities and viable ecosystems hidden somewhere in the Great Wildlands. I wouldn't doubt that there are downsized versions of the same as well.

Honest, you Thukkers can come up with things not even the Sebiestor can imagine in the most fevered of times.

I don't know whether to be amused, intrigued, or utterly terrified. Seeing as this is the IGS, I suppose I will continue to be amused.

Ah, indeed they are a sight to behold. Should you ever see one with your own eyes, you'll never see the Thukker in the same way again.

But other than that, I don't think I would make a very good elf. How about Lasairiona here? She looks a little elfish, no?

Damn it Average elf, elfs are suppose to be a secret. That's why mine never leave the hanger....

Space wizards don't exist; you must mean space warlocks, such as the famous eagle-blooded Gallentean celebrity space warlock from Matar, Charles Shen.

Let us apply the criteria to Lasairiona and see:

1) Sight Of The Elfs. If Lasairiona is blessed with elfsight, she chooses to hide it. It is trivial to do so in this day and age, of course, but why?

2) Forest Of The Elfs. The most readily apparent in most cases, and in this case, the most elfish. Lasairiona either has elfcestors who frolicked betwixt the elfin space trees and carried them with them when they left, or is imitating those who did (which is, again, trivial).

3) Artistry Of The Elfs. None apparent. This does not preclude it actually existing, of course, but why have stories if you aren't going to tell them?

Miscellany: She's rather... voluptuous... for a elf. Shocked

Conclusion: Probably not a elf.

As for you, Karynn, it appears that your clan has many stories to tell. Whether they are elfin stories, I do not know. So much has been lost to the space sands of spacetime. Sad

Ah the sweet vagaries of language. "Space warlock" is of course a bastardization to the space elf word for "space wizard", which is of course unpronounceable to most tongues. P

Well, if you happen to get him his pants back before I see him again, tell him to give me back mine. That quality of leather and craftsmanship is hard to come by these days..... He can keep the thongs though.

Does it mean they are sea creatures and live under water?..

Again I can only point to the mangling of a beautiful language by bastard tongues. The way it is meant to be pronounced (as evidenced in The Scrolls of our Elders), apparently sounds enough like another human word as to be adopted.

Since you guys can't handle the realness here, I was accommodating. Blink

Elfhood is a strange thing. Some of the elfest elfs to ever elf have sworn up and down that they were, in fact, not elfs.

Many non-elfs have claimed to be elfs.

In your case I'm inclined to take your word. No offense.

Levels of eccentricity here. But I'm curious, since you're posting here in the IGS, you're also a capsuleer? What made you decide to do that? Did you get that done enrolling in the CAS or is that some kind of artifact?
