Ok, I am sick and tired of people using eve-offline to somehow prove that subs are down.

Its VERY simple.

eve-offline, and to invoke him to this thread, correct me if I am wrong oh eve god Chribba, just shows the average users online in a day. It pretty much takes eve's low point and its high point, and find the number in the middle. This mearly shows, that yes, less people are playing eve for a long period of time. This doesn't show loss of accounts.

If you look at the 1/2 year statement, ccp is down roughly 2.2k accounts, if you don't try to figure out how much was made form dust and other non eve subs. Though I think my math was wrong and they have 2m less this 6 months, which actually translates to about 22k accounts. 500k-22k is not a lot. And that's a rough estimate. You also have to take into account that dust launched in the last month of that time frame so could of pumped in a few mill in rev. So we really have no idea how many accounts are actually gone, but 22k is not a huge number.

But back on topic, so eve-offline shows time spent. I'll use me as a comparison. I have been here since the close of Earth And Beyond in 2004. I started in eve 4/1/2004 officially (unofficially in march) I have 3 accounts, with a 4th that I sometimes pay for. When I started I was not married (had a live in gf now my wife) had no children (now have a 3 year old) and an unstable time wise job + school (now an 8-5) I played eve roughly 5-8 hours a day, depending on the day, 7 days a week. For 3 accounts.

I suffered a big break form eve in 2011 when my son was born, and played 0 hours a day to maybe 1 hour a day for a year. Yet I still had all 3 accounts subbed. I would log in, set a long skill check mail, and log out.

So the eve-offline could would of been lower, but the sub numbers would not have been.

Eve is an old game, some have been playing for years, and get caught up with irl from time to time, but don't unsub. The biggest issue, is that if you get bored, are in the blue doughnut and nothing si going on, you may not log in as much, or with as many as you used to. Also with some changes less alts are needed for certin task. All these leads to lower avg player numbers, but doesn't correlate to sub numbers.

No. What launched last year that was not launched before.. hmm let me think about that... hmmm.... oh right Dust.

CCP not saying sub numbers can be read a few ways:

1) EVE is down A LOT of subscribers (math doesn't agree)

2) EVE is down a lot of subs and dust made a crap load of money (legion/wod disagree)

3) EVE flatlined or loss a little, bust dust made very little to no money.

4) EVE increased subs, but Dust made negative money.

If they came out and said hey guys, eve has 450k subscribers across SRN and TQ! We could go, oh that's great...

450k * 15 a month = 6.75m x 12 = 81m *looks at ccps statement from last year* hey wait! 76-81 = -5m

WTF CCP!

or any combination of the above. We could very easily determine if dust was a success or a failure and how much it ate into CCP's time and profits. I mean come on, if dust had made 1m last year, and it cost then 20m to make, the player base would be having a bigger **** storm then the jita riots.

The point is, we do not have enough information to determine if subscriptions are down. And that's the problem. The internet makes everyone stupider because everyone thinks that with the info they an get, that thy are accounting genious', or awesome ceo's, whatever. But the point is, you do NOT have all the info. So you want to fill in the blanks. And that, is the problem.

EVE is not dying, Dust however, was prolly a colossal failure.

I do however have enough information to know that 6 of my 8 accounts are now unsubbed, this account has 10 days left and my last remaining account which expires in 2015 will not be re-subbed. EVE may not be dying, but I'm out barring major changes. Have fun in your litterbox.

Methink that 21% less ACU it's a lot of "zombie" accounts being paid for but not loggin in.

7 out of 10 here unsubbed. Not really sure why the other 3 of us are still hanging out...hoping for a miracle I guess.

Low subs would kill CCP, it's low PCU that will signal EVE's demise.

Not nessicarily, honestly a good indicator would be when they announce four large changes:

Corp/Alliance Roles
POS revamp
Sov Rework

and maybe

some kind of mining over haul.

If you don't see a rise in PCU for these, then there is a problem (mining less then the other 3, I just really want a mining revamp)
