I finding ISK per hour for incursions, be sure to include the time needed to fly to the incursion site, the time used to wait for a spot on the fleet, and the time needed to fly home when you are done.

Once you do that, you will see the ISK per hour is not quite as good as you think.

Don't think to many take that into consideration. Same with doing L4's with a Macha, they don't calculate the time it takes to get into range, reduced damage when more than 20k out, etc. They only see what EFT tells them. Or missiles shot into empty space.

But then, I've never calculated how much isk/h I've made, i prefer to play a game.

Hisec Level 4 Mission running is, by far and away, the largest source of isk-generation in Eve.; there are dev blogs, graphs and numbers to prove it.

Fact is, there's a *very* large number of Eve players who like to log on, pew some L4 rats, play with fits and maybe earn a couple hundred mill in an evening.. without any hassle at all.

They're called Carebears, and they are a large factor driving the entire Eve economy. A very, very large factor.

It may be an MMORPG, but you can still relax, enjoy, and play a solo game. That's the beauty of Eve.

These "carebears" exists in null also and generate far more isk than the HS carebear, they called renters...

... What next ??

Wait, so the metric by which we measure the worth of an activity is how much money it makes us? Thats it? Its like real life all over again!

ISK efficiency from any PvE activity that's based on shooting red crosses is moot anyway. If you think an activity X is waste of time because Y is more profitable, pretty much everything in eve is pointless compared to trading/manufacturing if you have decent sized capital in your hand.

Also, most casual pvp-ers don't make great profit per hour, so you could even say that small gang pvp roams are waste of time. But there are crap loads of people who feel that this is their favourite part of the game. Earlier in the year I did a lot of low-sec roams & gank bearing, and my average profit per month from pvp wass between 100mil~200mil (total loot drop value minus my own loss value). I'm not very good at pvp and tend to lose expensive ships (as I'm almost always flying T2 hulls) so YMMV.

In any case, the point I'm proving is that judging an activity by how much isk it can make is kinda silly. If you are that concerned about isk, then you should apply the same rule to your pvp activities as well. I find that many people have double standards - when they talk about their pvp stuff they don't calculate/think about their profit per hour, but the same people slate mission running or mining or whatever for low profit/hour. This is because they apply their own 'fun' metric to a specific activity (pvp) and exempt it from isk/hour rational, whereas they brand whatever else un-fun and only apply isk/hour metric to that.

High-sec mission runners can say the same thing. PvP makes no sense because low isk/hour. Personally I don't do anything in this game that I don't consider 'fun' at the time. ISK is just an added bonus.
