W-space was dead/dying long before Hyperion. Was this an additional nail in the coffin? Most likely, but saying that Hyperion is what killed w-space is laughable at best. What killed content in w-space is the same thing that killed much of the content in null, groups blueing each other. One group gets to X active people in fleet, so group two feels they need to recruit/blue more people to fight them. Then group three needs to get bigger. Now instead of having ten 30 pilot corps we have one 300 pilot corp/alliance. The numbers are pulled from my back side, but you get the point. With farm holes and alts a corp/alliance can pretty much grow infinitely without tapping out the resources of one hole. Break up the mega-corps/alliances and more people will be spread across w-space to fight and gank, and guess what, none of that is dependent upon CCP, it is all on the players.

Ccp just added a bunch of changes that mostly favour groups to become larger than whoever they have a chance to connect to , i'd say that is very much on ccp.

Why yes, you are correct. HK only had 50 members until Hyperion, then blew up to 300 within two weeks. Same for Ixtab. I guess too. Luckily LZHX only ballooned to the mid 200s, but give it another few days at this rate... This was happening long before Hyperion was ever even a figment of Fozzie's imagination. Imagine if you took the 300 pilots in HK and split them up into six 50 pilot corps. That would create 5 additional holes with potential targets. Now, I am not saying this is what should be done, nor am I saying CCP should put any type of limit on corp size, but I am saying that as more and more people flock to fewer and fewer groups that by nature means fewer and fewer WHs are occupied as those pilots leave their old home to congregate with their new corp/alliance.

But surely we shouldn't place any of the blame on our own human nature, so I must be mistaken...

It would be a really interesting landscape though if corps in WH space were limited to 50 people/accounts. Not advocating it but think of how things would look for just a moment.

We used to maintain a few "bear holes", but thanks to Obama's new clean energy regulations we could no longer run the towers on WH pilot tears, so we shut them down. There may be a couple of pilots with an alt corp somewhere in w-space, but nothing official or corp sponsored. Now we just use w-space for booty calls. She can come over, but no spending the night.

Think you will find you are the needy ex booty call.

Used to be in a stable relationship.

Now you put in all the effort to come back around.

Then stalkbook and cover the wall in posts to make everyone believe you are still together.

"W-space is in a persistent vegetative state." would have been more accurate.

By Bobs Neckbeard, you are still alive. Did not expect that. xD

I needed an extended hiatus while I was preparing for my wedding. No time for gaming while shouldering extra work.

This time there will be less internet game journalism and more actual W-space presence.

just because we the players are doing it does not mean ccp is not.
