Star Brightness causing headaches

So, back after a break, and the new star graphics are so bright that they cause me headaches. Real, IRL headaches. With actual pain. That hurts. It sucks enough I don't want to undock.

I know from searching that there's been requests for a slider since at least 2008. So no help from CCP.

Anyone know any workarounds?

PS, I'm pretty sure the problem is in the extreme light/dark contrast, so adjusting my moniotor's brightness doesn't actually help much. I already tried that.
