New Ship Classes?

Same with t2 BC. A sleipnir without links can be done. Now if people aren't running them, that is player choice. AT saw a few cs cores where only 1 was control points via links.

this a case of ccp can't be adding stuff because players don't run them really. As while you get innovators, often times its follow the lemmings. Especially in larger fleet setups. Don't want to do funky wth comps....if it fails kb looks bad.

Vicious cycle there. don't try funky things as they may fail...and they may/will fail because they because they aren't given time to have sound tactics built around them. Can't make omelets without breaking eggs, basically.

This was why ships tiericided. CCP was trying to get people off the same hashed comps they had for years making less popular ships more appealing to run using in game stuff. Success varies here...as well, lemmings gonna lemming sometimes.

I was talking to a few mates on fleetcomms the other day that puperty lasts until age 27/28 with some relapses until age 35+

They were not exactly happy about the facts - the younger ones weren't - while the mates of similar ages all agreed with me and I didn't even have to proove it (the Oxford University did that a while back, for your consideration).

did you in the few months of being here ever follow a ship rebalance thread? The second the devs believe they are at the 'presentation state' of things, we get a sticky to read.
Minutes later someone of us will find a flaw they didn't consider.

Let me give you an example of the nightmare of rebalancing things, the general do-it-all-in one hull boat, which were named tech 3.

Naming things aside (cough..) this sooper-dooper-do-it-all ships were added to the game when EVE got a new type of 'gate' - an access point into the unknown.

And what a success they were and still are. No other shipclass managed so good to outclass all existing cruiser and battlecruiser class ships and smaller in one package.
What could go wrong?

A new class of ships that could everything that all the tech one and two cruisers could do just a little better than any of them combined.
And now even with re-fitting in space to your situation.

To hell with hacs, recons, logistics, command ships, battlecruiser, cruisers and battleships - haz tech3.

If you will these awesome, cool, hip-hop, rap and whatever names the kids come up with ships made all supcapital ships moot.

People only fly them because the proteus doesn't have a sentry drone configuration that makes the Ishtar moot.

These four sooper-dooper-cool ships are a nightmare to balance. The reasons are as many as there are configurations but basically they made everything subcapital into a four boat madness - almost fun.

Well maybe I should have taken the Drake as example but I didn't want to get into a missile discussion - again.

And to cut this short, if you consider a new boat, bare in mind the existing ones.

Why would you want a 40 million destroyer when you can fly a 8 million boat more often??

I say give it a chance. Also a good point. I'll fly the 8 mill ship over the 40 mill ship if the 40 mill ship isn't worth it. Lets be honest there is a lot of directions the T2 bonuses could go on said new destroyers. They are probably aside from cruisers the most free and loose ships in the game. Somebody had previously said that Destroyers and Battle Cruisers "bridge the gaps" that implies that there is a gap. I personally don't think the destroyer one is filled as well.
