Following the deployment of Hyperion 1.3 on September 2 we discovered an issue with the Mac client: While the EVE Launcher starts correctly for the Mac client, it is not possible to log into Tranquility at the moment.

The bug has been identified already and the devs are working on a fix. Unfortunately it will take some time to test and deploy this fix. As soon as more information is available, we will update this thread.

We apologize for this issue and the inconvenience caused by this bug.

Player suggested workaround
Running on the terminal

export COMPUTERNAME='...'
/Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS/launcher

Thank you for pointing to this workaround. EVE community = best community!

UPDATE: A fix has now been deployed. Please trying restarting your launcher before running the game again, and let us know if you have further issues.

According to the thread in the Mac sub forum it's been happening for at least a few DTs, with no fix or communications...

It's just seems like tonight it's all Mac clients rather than a few...

Possible work around, credit to Yagnori for finding this.

It seems something is looking for COMPUTERNAME to be set.

export COMPUTERNAME='...' then relaunching worked for me

WHY don't you test BEFORE you put in the patch?! Has been several times now with always the same problems. At home i usually "install" every patch with the "Eve Online Repair" Tool, as nothing else works Evil

They did test it...

Apparently it broke some clients on the 29th...
And now it's been rolled out to the rest of us...

This works for me, open a terminal and type:

export COMPUTERNAME=`hostname -f`;open /Applications/EVE\ Online.app

This is an issue with the client. There is not much that can be done except letting the devs do their work, then rebuild the client and deploy it again. Be assured that everyone is working as fast and best as they can.

Does the workaround above work on Mac as well?

If so, how do you perform the fix on a Mac?

I am sure the dev department is on it.

At the same time could you give use a rough estimate of the time window required to do the job?

Thank you in advance.

Thanks guys.

Crap happens, but when it does, I'm glad you are working on it quickly.

This is the first time in a year that my client has been broken. So while it's frustrating, in general the Mac client is quite good.

That completely depends on the fix and is unknown to me. A full client re-build can take several hours, but maybe the fix does not require a complete new build.

In the meanwhile I would like to point to a potential workaround: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4978791#post4978791
