Sorry, i can't believe that someone who would really take precautions would end up with a BPC instead of the actual ship.

I was scammed out of 750mil ISK-worth of ships by Goonwaffe a few months back. I didn't know that they weren't recruiting, but they led me to believe that after a security deposit (which sparked my suspicion) and contracting all ships I wanted to bring with me for transport (which was just about everything I had. A Proteus, a Hyperion, a Drake, two Wolves...). I was actually pretty excited, because I'd -heard- of Goonswarm before and thought it'd be great to join a big Alliance.
.

Dude. I feel ya man. The exact same thing happened to me. I wasn't too happy about giving 250mill over to a guy so I checked there website and it told me in big red letters "If you paid to get into Goonswarm you've been scammed and **** out of luck." Well I did just that even after reading it in plain English. Hard to admit but I deserved that wallet hit. Learned a lesson though. :) Gotta be happy about something. Lol

You know, I take a lot of efforts to "protect" myself in this game. As a matter of fact, probably too much for what is suposed to be an entertainment medium.

I'm not raging about being scammed persay. I'm raging about the fact that as far as I could tell there was no counter, no way I could have protected myself (other than outright not using contracts to buy stuff which is the lesson learned here).

I decided I wanted a new ship so I looked on contracts (mistake #1). I found the ship I wanted, fitted and rigged. I double checked, triped checked the contents of the contract to make sure it clearly stated "hulk" "exhumer" , not hulk blue print, but exhumer.

And of course when I completed the contract there was the ******* blue print.

Now, I've been playing this game long enough to realize that its full of scammers and botters. But I have to say I do grow a little tired (really tired actually) of playing a game that **only** has me looking behind my back all the time. Paranoia online? You're likely to develop some form of mental complex finishing the day each day like this.

So how did they do this one? How do you package a blue print to make it look exactly like a ship and when the hell will it be fixed?

Its one thing to get scammed because you weren't paying attention but I'm growing really really tired of all the game mechanics that are there just to screw you over.

Eve is a game of rock paper scissors until it comes to player economy and on a separate side, suicde ganks.

Then its just a rock to the balls and have a nice day.

I guess I know there is always soemthing a player could have done differently, but its a bit depressing that the different thing to do is to simply avoid using CCP's contract system.

Sometimes the word 'Blueprint' isn't shown if the colum width isn't wide enough or the window width is too small. I made the same mistake with what I thought was a rigged Itty 5.

I particularly like the ones where they are selling an item like a PLEX, and as part of the purchase price they require that item in return. So you pay your money and get the item, but it is then instantly yanked back out of your hanger to complete the transaction. Very basic, but apparently surprisingly effective.

Isn't the icon for a blueprint... you know... blue? As in, looks nothing like the actual item it's a blueprint of?

I got scammed in RL once - got married. Why do women have to be such scammers?

Anyway, I learned to watch my back before I started playing this game, and never got scammed. Am I doing it right?

There's different ways of viewing contracts. I use the text listing, as you get more information in a smaller area, but you don't get the icons....

Hey OP instead of trolling how about revealing which character you used ot accept the "scam" contract. Any public contracts accepted end up being publically viewable, in this case "Zeet A'Dron" has no finished contracts.

Oh right. I'm being dumb. Still, I always show info on any and all contracts and trades I do.

Word to the wise, don't buy ships on contracts unless it has rigs only, if you see lots of **** in the contract (fitted guns, ammo, random mission trash) check every item very carefully. And do not ever buy a T3 cruiser on contract, because the sub systems can be faked with the skills themselves then covered over with extra trash like guns and tank modules + drones or you could be spending the fully priced amount for just the stock ship without modules, say you spend 500m for it but end up with about half the worth of the item (stock ship looks like a normal ship in inventory, but it is six parts before you can ride it : ship + 5 susbsystems).

QQ about getting scammed thread. Check the contract carefully next time, there is no "trick" or "exploit" to fake a contract. You just didn't pay enough attention. Or you saw what you wanted to see in the contract list.

That's not how that works.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

This isnt how that trick is done. You used to do this with Loan contracts, however those were removed. And even while they were still in the game it was considered an exploit to do this

Paranoia online? Sweet! Paranoia was an awesome game!

Sucks you got scammed - but the risk / danger inherent in this game is half the fun, hmm? :) (really)
