...to come up with the idea of Eve?

Or was it just a group brainstorming session with multiple simultaneous Eve "conceivers" for ever lost to history?

Drunk late teen, early twenties vikings....How are they ever going to agree on that?

They'll all claim it was their idea first.

A long, long, time ago Dog became increasingly frustrated with Adam's incessant bitching, and screaming at clouds about being alone, so when Adam was sleeping, Dog stole one of his ribs and created EVE, who was intended to occupy all of Adam's time.

This made a lot of people very angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea.

There's a million angry citizens looking down their tubes..at me.

While I may not know who exactly came up with the idea of EVE, I know the response of the witnesses. It was:"What? Really? Hah, you're drunk! That's silly!" And 6 months later we got EVE online.

Honesty/dishonesty doesn't have to come into it.

You can be a perfectly upstanding member of the community and not have a perfect memory.

legend has it, it was a very young Mittani, who after successfully infiltrating the US government set his eyes on even bigger game. he envisioned a Sci-Fi themed game that would serve as bait, to attract all the neckbeards, weaboos and IT professionals of the world. he figured, once he had them all under one roof, he could then control them, and since most of them held positions of power on their own gubernatorial apparatuses, he could indirectly control the world.

but fate would not have it, so hes now the leader of a legion of burgerflippers and plain old Neckbeards. no weaboos though, those went for TEST.

WHAT A FASCINATING LIFE AFTER FOUNDING EVE/CCP !!!!

Thorolfur Beck has enjoyed - or perhaps we should say endured - an intriguing career trajectory. He's been a global ambassador for kids TV phenomenon LazyTown, laboured on a Reykjavik building site, produced Iceland's 2006 Eurovision Song Contest entry and spent six months working in a psychiatric hospital. We should add that all these disparate entries on his CV come after his five-year stint as Eve Online's very first lead designer.

"That's ridiculous. Eve came about from a childhood fantasy. It wasn't all mine, but it certainly wasn't the fruit of some brainstorming."

My grandfather was quite the visionary

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

On occasion, Dog's alter ego comes out to play. Either way, he is an ugly thing.

The players created EVE. Because player driven content/sandbox/emergent game behavior/etc.

Also the egg came first. Two lizards got together and laid a chicken egg.

I don't think EVE can be attributed to any one really. Part of the goal of eve is to create a universe where every sci fi thing can be done in a game. So you can say the sci-fi setting to early sci-fi writers etc. as for the game mechanics. well those are hardly original. Hell if you strip away all the faff we really have similar systems to wow. with healers, tanks, damage etc.
Although the customization of each ship/character is way more in depth.

Eve's core mechanics are: Travel system (thats actually pretty crap and leads to bottleneck inspired gameplay like camping and ganking). the combat system (As above. not really that far from other mmo) and the structures/industry (also not that revolutionary. Mining. where have we seen that before).

It's like in Jurassic park. CCP just took what other had done and built on it. And before they knew it they had something. But as the years have shown their creation kinda is not as easy to manage as they hoped.

I wouldn't be to suprised if it was someone that was a big fan of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X:_Beyond_the_Frontier and thought "I want to play this as an MMO" like I'm sure many of us dreamed about back in the day.
