No? Ever heard of the scandal regarding a certain review on Kane & Lynch on Gamespot that ended with the reviewer's employment getting terminated?

One instance doesn't mean the whole damn industry does it... Just as no instances doesn't mean its never happened. Also I think you'd see video game editors driving BMW's if this was a regularly occurring given how much the industry makes.

The whole "one bad apple" thing. And once again go to a site that tallies users reviews...

Do you use an adblocker? If so, you're guilty of theft of an internet service.

Those ads are there to support and fund the server and content that you're enjoying, and you are disabling that and thus directly damaging the owner of that website, and costing him real money.

Your post shows your limited knowledge here. As whole, the industry is dependent on getting good reviews whereas the gaming review sites also depend on revenue to keep going. A publisher dumps X amount of cash into gaming review site Y if they run a bunch of ads for a certain game.

This is called marketing.

Now, the publisher will always want a positive review and the larger the publisher is, the more say they have (money talks) and if the review is far from favorable, it is more likely that the gaming review site is going to get punished for it.

Because. A negative review literally translates into lost sales for these people.

Also, more recently Telltales employees wrote favorably about the Jurassic Park on metacritic when a majority of all reviewers out there chopped it.

I bought it off of Steam two days after it came out. The only real positive is that on my monster of a rig, it's visually STUNNING, I've never seen a game that looks so good.

On the other hand the UI and menu system is a horrendous console port that's far more suited to a games console and controller rather than keyboard and mouse, it also looks like crap and is totally out of theme with the setting of the game.

Also, the voice acting is still terribad in places, a hallmark repeated from all the other Elder Scrolls games.

Not impressed with it at all personally.

Desperately trying to backpedal and justify piracy is so 12 year old.

If you had downloaded a legit copy it would be working as intended. On steam it is updated with micro patches as they come out. Your pirated version is way out of date and you have no right basing an opinion of the game on it.

I have none of the problems you do with using the mouse on the tab menu. It works fine. Shortcuts work fine. Everything works fine.

Is the interface clunky? Yup. Is the interface a lazy console port? Yes. Is it buggy? Sure. (mostly true of the game who's forum you're posting on as well, btw)

But after 120 hours I still can't step away from it. If I didn't force myself to take some time off to finish up some character sales, I'd still be lost in it instead of posting here. And I'll be back there as soon as possible.

You don't even have to rely on review sites so that is a BS excuse to pirate.

Instead of all these "Protect IP" acts and crap like that that can cause youtube to be shut down. The gov needs to give more funds to its enforcement arm for piracy. Obvious people feel far too free to admit they pirate and review on a regular basis.

and your point is ?

For me ... seeing or in this case... testing is believing...

Tbh the BEST way of getting me to play a game is letting me TEST it... how do you think i started playing eve ? well bingo cause of trial... and yes i downloaded skyrim and frankly ... -.- meh not my type of game... so im glad that i downloaded it... however here in iceland it is actually legal to download and use it cause we already paid an extra tax on all items able to "encourage" piracy.

So now im just waiting for D3 to come and that i can try it out :P (btw i bought D2 and the expension 3 times)
and a friend of mine has over 300 purchased games on steam wich also dl's and tests out games before he buys it...

A Mr Epeen post I can get behind.

I too have no issue with the tab menu. Mouse sensitivity on other menus seems to have been improved as well.

My biggest qualms with the menu 90 hours in are:

No sorting options, everything is automatically alphabetized.

Spells are difficult to find in the Q menu when you have dozens of them favorited and only 8 hot keys. They're auto alphabetized when they should go into the menu in the order you favorite them to make for easy ordering of most used to least used spells, or sorting by spell school.

There just aren't enough hotkeys for a mage.

Occasionally I'll accidently hit R when organizing my storage chests resulting in having to reorganize 900 weight worth of stuff.

My biggest gameplay qualms are:

Can't talk from horseback.

Can't jump off horse to quickly defend myself against a charging bear.

Horse is third person view only.

If horse runs off, the easiest way to find him is to fast travel to somewhere nearby.

The fast travel carriage is auto fast travel and not optional like in Red Dead Redemption. It would help my roleplay experience to hire the carriage and view the country side as I travel to a new city, then have the option to skip ahead.

No because ads are free to be ignored whether you block them or not...many rely on directly clicking them anyway to see effectiveness. Blocking pop ups and scripts is not akin to directly looking for a pirated game...downloading it...cracking it...installing it, and then bitching about it, and then attempting to use the rational of "Well I might buy some of them"...or "I also played it on my friends comp who did actually buy it." (The **** does that even make an iota of sense?)

There's literally no corner to back up claims FOR piracy. You are not entitled to "test" every and all product you wish to buy before hand. There's no moral ground/justification to stand on for it.

As for the review thing. Not all reviews are cooked if so gaming websites and reviewers would be making way way more money, and games would be getting higher scores. The same would go for ads in any product line in magazines or other websites. Im not saying it doesn't happen corruption is everywhere, but lets say they did pull ads...they'd get burned on their next review then and thus a loss in sales.

Just because it happens... doesn't mean it happens 100% or even a majority of the time. But hell I can see this is a loop of a conversation.

After trying out a few characters and having done the fast travel/powerlvl skills/ubersmithing nonsense which wore very thin very fast, I restarted from scratch and decided to not have any quick leveling or traveling whatsoever. Bought myself a horse expecting it to suck and lose it but it's still with me and while travelling takes a lot of time now it's better for immersion.

And yeah, the UI for PC is clunky (yes, I have an original version) and while it's doable (I guess) there simply is no excuse for Bethesda to have it ruin the experience as much as it does.

Similar with other parts of the game's menu, like the Character Creation screen, theres no 'next' button even, you have to just discover all the buttons and discover if you need to select it from the keyboard to use it, or if you have to click it to work.

Funny, my mouse works fine when I go to click on any menu option anywhere in the game. But I guess I must be imagining things since according to you it doesn't. Then again, maybe that's because I didn't pirate my copy of the game.

There are plenty of software developers and companies out there that actually offer a trial of their products so I am really questioning your reasoning behind why I am not "entitled" to try before buying.

As a gamer and a consumer, I want my money's worth and if I end up disliking the product, I am very unlikely to get a full refund when I take it back to the store, I am even less likely to get a refund if I bought the product for PC.

But the way I am interpreting your post, corporate greed is morally justified unlike piracy, which in case you are just arguing semantics.

I didn't say it happens all the time. I am saying I am not ruling out that it happens all the time because I have no idea what is going on behind the curtains, and nor do you.

I gave up with horses, dragons swooped down from no where and picked me and the horse up and dropped us, killing the horse and leaving my char with low health.

Did he drop you at your destination ? P

For me, I'll be waiting to hear if they make a decent interface for PC, and if so, I'll buy it. I'm tired of these ****** console ports, if BF3 gameplay wasn't so good I'd still be enraged over the ****** console UI.

Word.

Guy talks sense your all just not listening. I for one havnt paid for a car ever, after all they expect you to pay upwards of £10000 or so for a 'decent' one that you might not like in a few days of ownership.

Those reviewers for cars. All paid up members of the Nazi Car regime of course.

Oh and FYI..... i can use the mouse on any screen brought up after pressing tab, any screen. I can set hotkeys the oblivion way. I do get confused at the reversed mouse buttons hands thing.

Mileage varies is what i guess it boils down to right now. That and your an ass for being a pirate.

My butt itches.

I think it has something to do with the 110 hours I've logged sitting in an office chair playing Skyrim.

No worries though, I got some boxes out and set up a standing work station. Now I can play standing up!

110 hrs and I've MAYBE got 1/4 of the way through the total game content? Something tells me its more like 20%, **** is massive.

Anyways, whatever you lightweight internet warriors were going on about. Please continue, I'm off to play more Skyrim.
