On the other hand, no single individual's "personhood" should be so wrapped up in one single characteristic that their life falls apart hearing anything against it.

Everyone can swear. Unless there's children around, no one should care. If any adult is genuinely so fragile that they can't shrug off an unkind word, then they sincerely belong in a mental institution.

I'm glad we have you as arbiter on how adults should respond to words.

You've been really bitter and angsty lately. Maybe you need some bacon sandwiches too.

I'm not alleging that you're a Fon Revedhort. I'm suggesting that this discussion reminds me of the discussions surrounding his views and speech.

Well, no you didnt allege that in your post, you just implicitly alleged a connection. But I'll speak on your point this time:

I can actually see both sides on that issue. On the one hand, I will remember the American saying, "I may abhor what you have to say, but I will defend unto death youre right to say it." Look, I'm a libertarian. I used to be a columnist for some relatively large libertarian websites. I HATE knotcees, ok? But if someone wants to talk like one, thats their birthright. If someone wants to ACT in such a manner, however, a line is crossed, and a person would most certainly be acting like one if they do like Germany and approve the imprisonment of people solely because of what they say. Another poster in this thread implied support for such measures.

That said, one the one hand, I could see the argument that one's socio-political views have little to no bearing on their ability to critique and try to improve a freakin video game, I mean cmon, right?

BUT, one can also say that the CSM are supposed to be there to represent the player base, and we can all probably assume that there arent many u-know-whats playing Eve.

So, it would be a tightrope for me, but I think in the end I would spout that quote again, argue that it's his right to have those opinions and even spout them, but I would also have to say that as a neo-blipblip he would not properly represent me and my libertarian views (which incidentally is part of what drew me to this game.

Surpised?

I sincerely hope you aren't anything close to a mental health professional. Because you have no idea what you're talking about.

Let me be absolutely clear then.
I like freedom of speech. I support freedom of speech. I agree that includes the right to use slurs and profanities.
All I'm arguing is that you shouldn't use slurs, not that you shouldn't be allowed to use them.

Are you still not over that? Well, this explains a lot. You need to learn to let go, release the past and focus on the present. Only then will you be a real Jedi.

TL;DR - get over it, and yourself.

And lose the tinfoil. I know you're talking about me, but I never defended SOMER. I was merely pointing out how stupid and childish the witch hunt was.

If you have an emotional breakdown because of a mean word, you need help, just to clarify that for you.

Although with regards to your question, I have had my share of old people committed.

That's just, like, your opinion, mannnn
