Profanity is not the issue. The issue is the use of slurs which carry strong prejudicial connotations and which are often intended to cause emotional pain.

I love how you people have a pavlovian dog response to certain words. I blame this on bad parenting. Your learned to be offended by certain sounds that come out a human mouth. You would enjoy a better existence if you unlearned this response.

Everyone would enjoy a better existence if people stopped using words that marginalize and hurt others.

It would actually be a rather dystopion world if we were all policed, even by "each other" in order to prevent upsetting or offending people. Check out the movie "Equilibrium" sometime.

Yes how awful it would be if we reminded each other how our use of language can hurt people. Roll

I'll make it my solemn goal in life to rant to you specifically about my woes and troubles. There's a terrible draft in my room. My pants don't fit like they used to because I'm married and just don't care. There's always more month at the end of the money, and Breaking Bad was far too short because I miss Walter White and Jesse.

Nobody is arguing against your right to say such things. We're merely saying that you really shouldn't say such things. Since when was it so horrible to have people ask you to be considerate?

Maybe this is hypocritical of me because I'm often rude, and crass, and I get angry. But I'm not a bigot, and I refuse to use the words that they've appropriated to hurt others.

Dear Internet,

Pleas stop being children and SJW's about gd words. There are many things in this world to enjoy, and getting side tracked b/c someone uses a word you don't like is rather idiotic. This game being one of them. Now, since some other idiots in this world want us to not be able to enjoy it, we are stuck here talking about it, not playing it. And yet, instead of commiserating with us, you decide to police OP's words. Here's a tip: Not everything said is meant the way you want to take it, and not everyone treats words like a child and is 'hurt' by them.

Thanks.

INB4 other totally rational minds call for actual real life torture or death for people who engage in Denial Of Service attacks against video games.

Truly, if asking someone to sing a song on teamspeak is literally the act of real life sociopaths, today must be literally be just the exact same thing as genocide :P

And some of us are actually gay and some of us have been on the receiving end of physical blows while said word was being used in a not so nice manner. So while you may compare me to some whinny feminist word policeman I don't give two damns about your right to say the word that's fine.

But being a belligerent jack off is going to get you called out for being a moron for using language. So forgive me if you think the word *** means bundle of sticks. To others it means prejudice and pain. Not that that means anything to a person ignorant of the world around them and can post without any consequence over the internet.

1. DDoS attacks are illegal and the offenders should be tracked down and arrested. It's not that hard, especially when they're bragging about it all over the intertubes.

2. Online services can be insulated from DDoS attacks in a variety of ways. CCP should be attending to that, especially if this kind of thing has happened before.

3. While it can be argued that compensating players for downtime can be seems as "encouraging" miscreants, it can also be said that CCP should be rolling servers back after these events. Even a 5-10 minute rollback would prevent the bulk majority of losses caused by disconnection.

4. While it's easy to say that CCP should not compensate players for losses in cases that are beyond the company's control, it can also be said that CCP should indemnify players for losses that are beyond OUR control. In a third-party attack on the company's property, its customers should not be the ones to swallow losses. And since Eve is a game in which real money is paid for in-game losses, that is doubly so.

Just saying.

But ... but.. wait!

What about that one time where someone asked me to join their teamspeak server and made fun of me? If being offensive and silly via text is serious, being offensive and silly via VOICE must include a blank reason life time ban! xD

Oh wait, nevermind. :P

Oh idk, I think there are plenty of folks, quite possibly including some in this thread, that feel that they or others actually have a "right" to not be offended. Such silliness often brings about draconian rules and regulations. It's an epidemic here in America. Here's just 1 example of the stupidity:
