Dev blog: Sharing is caring - Overview improvements with Hyperion

CCP karkur bring exciting news about a new way to share your overview settings with the next release.

With Hyperion (to be released on August 26th) you will be able to share your overview settings in a very simple and convenient way with everyone. Simply drag the overview settings into chat (or mail, notepad etc.) to share these settings via a link. Clicking this link will load your overview settings and activates them in your overview. Never before was it that easy to share your overview settings with everyone!

Of course there is more than this, we will see also an overview history and an overview restore button. For all the details and more in-depth information, please read CCP karkur's latest dev blog Sharing is caring - Overview improvements with Hyperion.

This overview sharing feature is a blessing for my corp ! And what's even better is that it also shares colortabs and brackets colors, and even in-space bracket names for player ships... What's left to ask for??

Edit: Actually we could ask for a way for the "state" tab in the "Tab preset" tab in the overview settings window, to be able to display only if X present instead of excluding if X present.

One question: Colortag/Background order isn't shared, but their (custom) color settings and active state are?

I can confirm that. Submitting a new post (or an edited one) doesn't get displayed - unless, it seems, I reload that page in a different browser tab.

So if we have 20 presets in our overview, it will only pull the 5 that are in use?

Right, but you might "simply" create four shared settings. Each one of them has the same global settings, but different tab presets (profiles).

As a side project for overview.

How about a decent overview setup for newbros by default? 5 tabs, colour coded names, appearance tab ordered properly, proper column selection. Either by making this the default overview, or a permanent saved overview.

Oh eeeh... I guess that works but its kind of suboptimal for those of us who use a "Various" tab that relies on loading different setups on the fly.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

This looks amazing. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I have one question though: how hard would it be to make a drop down menu for d-scan, where you'd select the overview tab profile to be used instead of the current "use active overview settings"? Is it something you would consider doing?

The reason I personally would like this is because oftentimes things I want to see in the overview are different from the things I want to d-scan.

Right now I can only see this beeing useful for new players. I myself would never want something to completely overwrite my settings. I assume it would also remove all existing presets (unless I undo it)?

Personally, I would prefer linking individual presets - clicking would add it to your list of presets.
And maybe linking/sharing _just_ the global settings.
