It's called Bárðarbunga - pronounced BOWR-thar-Boon-kah. The astounding worldwide ramifications of this thing going off gets discussed here.

The latest is that Reykjavik is taking the possibility of this devastatingly lethal powderkeg going off more than seriously. Nothing is ever a sure thing when it comes to volcanos, but things lately are looking decidedly worse rather than better.

This isn't just an everyday volcano. It's like jousting with frigates, destroyers and cruisers, and suddenly a holy bloody dreadnought appears.
