Sentry drone range and tracking

So simple question. Say I am flying a Dominix in a mission and I drop some sentry drones 80km or so from the rats I then fly my boat (albeit ever so slowly) to 20 km from the rats. Are tracking and range for the drones now worked out from the position the drones were left at or from where my Dominix is now?

Tracking is done from the Drone's position, not yours.

Thanks for that, is it the same for the range?

Correct me if I'm wrong but in this case the only thing affected is drone control range so it's is possible to drop sentries beyond that move closer and if they have the range now you can attack
