Do you think the Eagle will find a reasonable niche as a speedy MWD sniper? My feeling is there are still many ships to fill this role much better but I'd love to see this ship in more use.

Simple answer.

No.

The Eagle in theory is a pretty decent fleet sniper, it has good projection, tracking with reasonable DPS and a stiff tank, basically a more tanky version of the Naga gangs of yore. However the Ishtar does everything it does but with more speed, movement independent of weapon system (Read, you can burn around all you want and not **** your tracking, or pull stuff into 0 transversal by positioning yourself away from your drones) and a great deal more DPS in more varied damage types.

Basically, like a lot of Hacs the Eagle would have a role if the Ishtar wasn't so powerful.

Edit; IIRC we got shot by FA (?) a while back using AB rail Eagles which were hella hard to kill, however they did fairly pitiful DPS and didn't make a great impression.

Blaster eagle is best eagle. Supperior agility to other races make it able to get at nose of enemy after a gate jump. Its a small nice.... but exists..

If you want a sniping cruiser; Ishtar or Tengu. Former being faster and latter tanking like a brick wall.

It's less slow, but it's still a pretty big stretch to call it "speedy". It's basically a poor-man's Rail Tengu, which would be really good if the Ishtar didn't exist.

faster is good...but it really needs something to make it outstanding for its given role. I've said it for years...it needs to be able to fit 6 rails. 6x 250mm II rails with a nice tank. OR give it a 25m3 drone bay so it isn't so terrible and the presence of the drone bay on the model isn't a big fat lie.

Stop whatever you're doing and use an Ishtar. Until it gets nerfed. Then you use whatever gets buffed in its place.

In every way but resists and 80km+, an active shield tanked vigilant with rails is better than a REagle as far as I can tell.

Only thang can do that an ishtar cant is it can hit at 180 km and is tanked to hell

The only major drawback is the crazed notion that the inventory would look so much better if merely rearranged ONE MORE TIME.
