Oh there was an event?

Obligatory "Wouldn't it be nice if something other than downtime happened in the Aussie TZ?" poast.

/whine. Carry on.

One problem with roaming around in a sizable fleet in low sec, waiting to clash with other, even bigger fleets can be a bit of a problem with lag. If you have a couple pre-reinforced systems, you can be sure that at least no server lag reduces the possible maximum fun for the players in these systems. Just jumping around 50 jumps might turn out to be not such a brilliant idea under these circumstances. (Time dilation ftw!)

Another problem with jumping around like madmen results from the inability to set up a counter fleet and travel to a certain given destination.

With Jita close at hand, it was pretty reasonable to expect at least a small fleet being prepared soon after the news spread. Some would have thought it fun maybe to chase a CCP fleet around the world without having any fight at all, but a lot of other people would have called that just being plain stupid.

But I will quote our news from yesterday:

"The destination of the fleet is unknown at this time but fragmented communication picked up on channels indicates that the fleet are on exercise maneuvers which will involve direct combat with capsuleers. It is believed that this is an initial training exercise for a much larger operation coming up later in the year."

Feedback is always welcome, especially when it is constructive.

I would like to say "Thank you very much!" to all the participants and also to those who would have liked to join, but were unable to do so.

Ive been in FW fleets with 50 BS that had no problem roaming around. Heck Gallente and Caldari do this regularly.

So many whining babies in this thread. Did you kids stamp on your Christmas presents when you got them in the wrong colour? Seriously, the CCP guys do something great that hasn't been done for years and all you can come up with is negativity?

All anyone needed to do was join the live events chat channel, that channel then continually posted info that a fleet with open invites and no ship restrictions was forming in Jita for anyone who was not in a corp or alliance, that fleet got intel from the live stream and moved to intercept. Easy, if you can't get to grips with that then you don't have very much going for you.

As to the loot, it was there to pick up for anyone who wanted but there wasn't that much of it. One guy in fleet got 4 plex which is nice but it's only 1.6 bil in isk. If you can't make a couple of billion fairly easily in this game then you're doing something wrong. Start blaming yourselfs not the guys at CCP who have gone above and beyond their normal duties to offer you something unique and exciting.

Actually I was asking you for feedback on how the system should be improved... It's an honest question as we want to be able to improve upon what we do. Who is this "we" you're referring to just so I'm clear?

we = ppl who pay REAL MONEY to play this game who dont like it when other ppl who just run incursions and pay isk to play get ccp devs flying to there doorstep to drop billions of loot. u have a history with goons and hearing this from u just confirms suspicions. there needs to be a ia investigation to make sure everything was done randomly or we cant trust u

I pay real money for two accounts and you can count me right out of your crying

I managed to get there in time. Couldn't carry anything away in my pod anyways but glad to have seen it and taken part

And people that know this was baloney.

This has some major ethical problems with that loot.

Hows that screaming like a child going "I cant hear you" with fingers in his ears working out for you?

My single "complaint" would be that the timing was a bit skewed.

Two days from now (Friday, Nov 25) is the day after Thanksgiving in the U.S. (Black Friday)

Many of us who are out of school, and working class players, would have Friday off, and thus a better chance of participating and losing horribly fit ships as well.

What I'd suggest to CCP is to ensure that these events occur a few more times, and cover the non-euro timezones as well, if you can get people up to play. 19:00 EVE Time isn't exactly a prime time for those of us not in Europe.

I'd like to see a couple more events spread out across the timezones.

So what you are saying is to be fair there should be more of these things and spread around?

a big +1 to that.

I was lucky enough to get there - but even if I hadn't the build up last night and all rumours and activity were pretty cool and entertaining anyway. It certainly brings an energy to the game.

Man it's been a while since I've seen a fleet battle... I forgot how much I HATE lag.

...and then it all started to make sense...

The 'larger' forthcoming CCP event mentioned will be held at a time when the time dilation mechanic is on tranq... so in light of that what do you think the odds are that the lag fest of today was designed to make us appreciate and tout the wonders of time dilation in contrast to lag right after the expansion? Free marketing? I'm sold.

I'm surprised CCP decided to sprinkle Plex around, but apart from that, seems it went well.

Nice to know CCP are bumbling around space like they used to. Now all we need is TomB to come along (Does he even still work for CCP?) in his Jove ships and scare the **** out of some low sec or null sec belt ratters.

Shame you couldn't get Hilmar or Oveur to join the fleet though.

Those aren't fingers, it's tech and trillions of ISK, but keep on crying peasant. We're all listening.

PLEX are an in-game item and don't have any more real world value than a Thorax or an Avatar.

There is a single dissenting voice by the name of RougeOperator. Don't let his dozens of posts in this thread give the impression that this event wasn't brilliant on CCP's part, and that more events like this would be awesome.

Census?

-CCP likely had a blast doing this.

-Players that participated definitely had a blast doing this, for numerous reasons other than KMs (lol?)

-People who didn't participate are a little resentful, but are glad that CCP is actually PARTICIPATING in the game.

-RougeOperator is obviously butt-hurt that he wasn't there and continues to spout illogical 'unethical' claimed nonsense, which is bordering troll behavior. For every post he makes, 10 more of us refute his whiny banter. It's comedy, really =)

-Rouge is spelled "R-O-G-U-E"

That is all.

Plex has a real world value ans it is purchased for a set amount.

A thorax does not as it cannot be bought with IRL money.

Nex items have IRL values as they amount of Aur you can get for a plex is fixed. 1 Aur has an IRL cash value.

No other items in the game have and IRL value, just and isk value.

I'm going to blame myself for incarna, it was totally the players' fault. CCP offering us something "unique and exciting" is a 50 man fleet? Thats so exciting, unique, bla bla bla. I was looking for the opportunity to fight against CCP, as soon as I heard they were sitting in Tama, then 10 minutes later still in Tama, then a half hour later STILL in Tama, I found it pointless to consider participation. What resulted was those with supers dropping them on field, LOLing in vent, and bears from Jita scooping as much loot as they could.

All CCP would have taken away from that is their supercap nerf is necessary, and I doubt they learned anything about PvP. All the while adding 60 or so PLEX to the market - the only item that is created when somebody spends IRL money. Honestly, do you think people would be complaining like they are if a bunch of t1/t2 mods dropped?

My only problem is that they didn't last long enough (I never get loots in live events anyway - you have to decide between looting and fighting in these chaotic events).

I was hoping they would do a longer tour, a long havoc-wreaking incursion that would give Sansha Kuvakai a reason to take notes, and an event for the books. I was also hoping they would do something silly too, like a swarm of Drakes or Arty Canes in a way of mocking us perhaps.

Being blobbed in lowsec like that was anti-climactic. It's like if I listed the names of all the great stars of today in a way that implied they were all going to be in the cast of an epic film, and then saying "gee wouldn't it be great if they were all in a movie together?".

Hope there's more of these events in the future and that this is a sign that live events overall, for whatever reason, will be happening more often. I could not think of a more fun way to lose ships.
