Hi all,

As my profile may indicate, this is a new character but with a budget of around 8 bil ISK which i have accumulated from past activities with other characters. I'm looking into ways of investing and getting a profit from my funds without having to do any tedious combat based grinding or spending SP for industry or trading.

This pilot is training towards pvp and in the meantime searching for means to make more ISK.

I've thought about trading with this character but it seems that to be effective in it you do have to train some skills. Would it be worthwhile buying a trading alt in this case? What other options are out there?

I predict you won't have many useful replies.

Time to think for yourself.

From a little experience i would say dont expect too much from 8bill. Unless you see decent loan requests you will only see
small interests returne.

That being said also if you do look for loans fully collateralize is the way forward. Dont be tempted to jump in to a high intrest loan
with no collateral just for the sake of it trust me they tend not too work out as hoped :P.

Some bonds can be ok but again check them out first, i have a few bonds running some fall short some are still active.

Also if 8 bill is all you have make sure you will not need it in a few weeks/days time for that nice shiny new ship.

and as for buying a trading alt i dont think it is really needed it dont take alot of time to get half decent skills to trade for your self
this char is less than a month old and has around 240 buy orders at any one time.

It is quite fast to train basic market trading skills, and even with no skills you can do quite well with 8 bn isk... the profits are large enough that the last bit of skill are not that important.

What is more important for succes is having an eye for what is worth dealing in and how to strike at them :)

Alternatively - buy a plex - use the plex to train another character on your account.

One month of training will get you trading skills to get you going. If you are able (mostly down to dedication) to turn a profit on trading you buy another plex with the profits and train a bit more to improve profits.

Simple, painless and you get to continue training your main to be the PVP war machine your heart desires Big smile

Investing for me is something i have only done twice first time was a disaster and the second opportunity was with a person with a successful history of paying back loans.

The key thing to remember about uncollateralized loans is that there is nothing forcing them to pay it back, that juicy 10% for 1b might end up with nothing back as it did with me.

i think it took me around 3-4 weeks to get my alt skilled up, and as long as sell for a higher price that you bought it then you will eventually make more money. Currently i am making around 300m a day in trading and that started a couple of weeks with 20m. so investing for me isn't a way to make a lot of money as through station trading i make more.
