Not sure if this idea has been brought up before, if it has could you post a link to it thank you.

Wondering what peoples thoughts would be on skill training reduction for skills already learnt by characters (on same account only)

I put this idea forward mainly to assist with new players who begin training on a character and find they want to change faction. The training time they already put in would cut down the training time of the same skills in they're alts. I suppose it would be too much for a 50% reduction, But maybe a 15% (25% with multiple character training enabled).

Also to prevent abuse of the fast learning system you could limit the bonus to skills x4 and lower only

Anyway just an idea let me know what you think or if its already been suggested.

Unfortunately, this is such a brutal example of said law that there's not much else to add. I could train up alts for anything (except corporate management) faster than a new player at that rate. And yes, I probably would.

My thanks for bringing the concept of Malcanis' Law to my attention. Very interesting read.

To the OP - That is basically pay-to-win. Why? I just buy two characters which have the skills I train to V and train up, then sell them and buy new ones as I need to train my skills, better, faster and with great gusto.

Actually, I see it as being a huge benefit for people who train characters for resale. But for the same reasons, I also echo the nope.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Okay so a straight up reduction is out of the question, but what about a compromise?

Like specializing, say you choose combat then all skills related to basic combat would be reduced but all skills relating to trade/corporations/industry would be increased. If you chose industry mining/reprocessing and other related skills would be reduced while combat/advanced combat and corporation would be increased. If you chose corporation then trade/diplomacy skills would be reduced while others are increased. advanced warfare would reduce drones/scanning/electronic warfare but increase trade/corporation/industry and so on.

that way the overall time needed to master all skills would be the same but new players could quickly get into they're chosen fields and if you don't want to specialize the option to remain balanced would be available?

So what do you think of this idea, its not a straight up advantage its a balanced advantage ... if there ever was such a thing. Anyway let me know what you think as i am constantly on the look out for ideas to help bring in fresh blood to the game.

p.s. the specialization could also relate to pilot licencing, however i am inclined to leave those skills alone so as to give players time to adjust to the play style before progressing down the bigger ship line (also it will help them to have more money to spend before giving them bigger ships to loose.)

That could get kinda close to paying to win. Buy a **** load of plex, go into the character bazaar, get 1 or 2 well SP'd alts on your account and then plug away at a much faster pace.

You've just described the attributes system we already have. Use remaps and you will train some skills faster whilst other skills will train slower.
