I took a year off from the game, just came back with the same computer and now the client is constantly dropping connection. 'Socket Closed' pops up every 10-15 minutes. It's no longer playable. Is this a known issue and if so, how might I fix it? I didn't have this problem before and none of my equipment has changed.

I only get that if the internet connection between myself and CCP is poor. Eve is VERY sensitive to the quality of your connection, more so than most anything else you do on the internet. I have not had a socket closed error in months, except when its obvious my cable service is acting up (TV screen goes all pixelated).

So check everything in that area. Cycle power of your modem and router, try Ethernet instead of wireless, complain to your ISP, or try a different service.
