@OP:

You earn your ISK ingame an talk about maximizing net profit? How much ISK do you make per hour? Do you have a job IRL? Have you ever heard about PLEX and RMT?

Are you spending your ISK on exotic internet dancers or are you selling it on eBay for real money?

Actually, forget RMT. The most profitable way to play this game is not to play it.

So, if 0.0 dwellers are bandits and peasants (I like this analogy and have to agree with you there), then what are you? I'd call you a hamster.

Actually RL I earn a little better than the average household nationally, which is kind of high locally ( midwest = low CoL). but sure if you convert isk/ hour into RL working at McDonalds wins over most activities in the game, by a lot. I just find game economies interesting. I actually even play some games that are purely econ sims. And for Eve it is an area of PvP where someone with a bazillion SP has to compete with me on a fairly even footing. But econ really is not my point. More I was pointing out the practical position of many of the posters here who take great pride in their positions in Eve. And yep I was kind of high-handed about it. Sauce for the goose as they say...

90% of of the time my posts are about something I actually find interesting and want to learn more about. Do not be alarmed.

Yes Op...

What you say is true. However, until you accept the full responsibility that such an understanding of your place in the history of Eve requires of any Socialist Man... YOU ARE... dare I say it...

Made it almost 10 lines into the OP and stopped. The title of the topic was vague enough to be attention grabbing, but then I started to read it.

Poorly Formatted - Check

Generalizations - Check

Misinterpretations - Check

Personal Opinions Declared as Facts - Check

Presumptuous Arrogance - Check

But, what really got me was the following:

JitaJane wrote:
And for some reason you consider the course of my existence in New Eden to be some sort of offense to yourself. Which frankly confuses me and many of my class.

No, I don't. Unless you're a blinky red, blinky orange or roaming through a section of space in which you are forewarned that you have no protection and bad things might happen to you, I don't shoot at you. Even more than that, I don't care about you unless you step into my lane. (If you ever spent any time at military firing ranges, you probably can think back and remember how every range cadre would always put extra emphasis on the "your" in "watch your lane".)

You probably managed to make a few points that would carry the ring of truth in the ears of people like you. However, that is no different than any other public speaker. And, what makes this situation even worse is that you forgot a few very important things:

Rule #11

Rule #12

Rule #13

Rule #14

Rule #15

Internet Access.

The last one is quite possibly the most important facet of modern life that many people seem to forget. And, if you're interested in doing the research on the rules you violated, feel free. However, the last one is simply this: You are not a writer. You are not a philosopher. You are not a poet. You are not clever. You are not witty. You are not original. You merely have internet access.

The fact that you will happily stand up on a soap box and spout your view of the world is mildly laudable. But, the fact that you would defend an eyesore filled with vagaries, false assumptions and comparisons that stretch the limits of acceptability is shameful.

Since I have just a bit of time, allow me to respond to the tiny bit of inane drivel you posted that I was able to consume before your idiocy turned me away from what might have been trying to trample through the grass of reason to the hill of a point.

Merriam-Webster's dictionary defines peasant as follows:

Quote:
peas·ant
noun \ˈpe-zənt\
1: a member of a European class of persons tilling the soil as small landowners or as laborers; also : a member of a similar class elsewhere
2: a usually uneducated person of low social status

Now, I understand you are attempting to make an analogy. However, you chose the wrong term. Thankfully you didn't attempt to imply that it was a 'serfdom'.

Why is this the wrong term? Because everyone in EVE has the same tools available. Everyone is capable of doing anything they want in this game. Those who are members of a corporation are so by choice. They can leave, taking all of their assets with them. No player is tied to any one "feudal lord".

As for the "lords", they only have as much power as the members of their corporation are willing to give them. And, should the "peasants" have a "revolt", the "feudal lord" will have naught but a pile of pretend money.

But, alas, Rule #11 will resurface. So, allow me to close by saying this:

6/10 for getting me to reply.

No surprise the OP offended you Hwong, you're in SniggWaffe.

You sold your autonomy and dignity for a little spot in the gutter, to be beaten and whipped by 15 year old kids. For... something. One thing about the human condition which never ceases to gently amuse is how some people are born with the condition and temperament to be made slave and even play video games where they are one.... when they don't even have to be.

Yes. You have to hand it to Mittens. He's got a lot of people fooled. But, who's the biggest fool, the fool or the fool that follows him?

edit: Hwong stopped reading (take his word he made it through ten lines) as it jumped past his gnat-like attention span.

Eve loosely boils down to 2 viewpoints (and I stress loosely).

Theme park players vs sandbox players. At the moment the large influx of (apparent) theme park players have a hard time grasping the sandbox world. This wouldn't be a problem except that some theme park players would rather change EVE to meet their play style instead of adjusting to EVE's existing play style. The change in play style pisses off current sandbox type players (especially long time veterans) who enjoy the sandbox as it is and would rather see the aforementioned theme park player GTFO and find a new game than try to change this one.

Not sure if that makes any sense but i wanted to rant about it anyways.

You're right! You made no sense.

I'm not sure which is more flattering, Molly: your apt and succinct way of proving my point, or the fact that the feelings you have my corporation are so strong you would attempt to use that little tag on my character sheet to cast aspersions against my character. (To those of you who do not understand the varying definitions of the word, I am not referring to Hwong Jian when I say 'character'.)

And, Serene, I actually managed to type more than 50 words in both posts. I think you, perhaps, wanted to finish yours and go check to see what else was happening. But, allow me to assure you, that I was indeed diagnosed with a severe case of Attention Deficit Hyper Disorder as a child. Sadly, the only thing in life that seems to hold my interest for extended periods of time are games, video/computer and role-playing.

Though, I'm sure the various DMs, GMs and Storytellers at one point or another became frustrated with my regular change to a new character.

So, yes, I do indeed have a short attention span. But, do you have any interest in providing an explanation how that fact makes my statements any less accurate or applicable?

Your use of "I" and "me" is Interesting as well. I stopped counting at ten. That does prove you DO pay attention to SOMETHING!Blink

Added some line breaks. Indentation still seems impossible. Which is pretty odd. Neither tab key nor manually spacing seems to work.

Yeah, forums tend to do that. Rather frustrating.

I appear to have gotten to it after you fixed it...

Anyways, it was entertaining. It was also wrong, over the top, and arrogant. IIRC though you frequent MD, you appear to believe that only hi-sec carebears have large quantities of isk (and major alliance leaders). You would be wrong.
