Steam launcher failure

When I launch the Steam launcher (v.2.1.655130) it validates the client, then throws an error ("Sorry, but an error occured while processing your request.") and an error code (55505a5-8b90-4317-b68a-9482f54ee870, but this seems to rotate). I have cleared both cache folders, I have ran the repair tool.

Last year when a similar problem took place a dev suggested a work around was launching the exe directly. I can launch the game with the *.exe alone but cannot log on because I must authenticate via Steam, so this is obviously not a real workaround.

I have logs but would prefer to forward them than paste them here.

I'm also experiencing this issue, and the legacy support I've uncovered all mentioned launching the game directly, which prompts a login screen which I can't fill out without login credentials.

Exactly. I can launch the launcher just fine from the exe too but you again get that sign in prompt which is useless to a Steam client.

Seems it's a problem on Steam's side then, something is preventing their authentication from going through.

I reported this issue to Steam Support with a copy of my most recent log. Sucks because I am currently missing my favourite roam of the week :(

I have also gotten this issue and at this point I am getting sick of CCP treating Steam Users as sub par when Steam does a better job advertising this game than they do. I think at this point CCP needs to enable Steam users to either have a username and password to log in for this very reason or allow them to make an account and transfer everything including game time to a new account for free as this is the 4th time in not even a year of me playing this game.

Same problem here, tried clearing the launcher cache, tried restarting Steam/PC... nothing works.

Error code seems to change each attempt.

You do realize that you are on the one hand decrying CCP over Steam but on the other advocating getting rid of Steam, who you just said advertise the game "better", and dealing directly with CCP? Just saying.

I still suspect the problem is on Steam's side, but if this derives from a patch rolled out today then IDK. One of my corp mates is in my same position as well FWIW.

Seems like it is a Steam issue. If I click on any other game in my Steam library it does not show any info. Also I cannot play any other games that need Steam authentication to log in.

I know and sadly fully agree with you as I find more people who learn of the game through Steam than I do other players. I would also prefer if I could just only deal with CCP as then if it messes up it affects everyone not just Steam users. I just refuse to double pay for a month of time when when I do transfer the toon as that is just messed up when I also have to pay for the transfer in the first place. So I'd have to spend $50 just for a single month.

Im pretty sure our logins are our registered email addresses, but what about the passwords...
