What if its an alt that attack one self. Concord will stay for some time. Would it give some protection.

That'd work but it's easily countered.

I'd guess most gankers would scout CONCORD in the belt and merely head to station first, undock in a disposable noobship which will pull CONCORD from the belt to the station, before then coming to try and gank ye.

In fact in some ganking-circles it's good etiquette to ensure you remove CONCORD from belts once you've done a gank so not to hinder further ganks by others.

Sweet baby James, I hope this tactic catches on! There's absolutely no way it can be used to a gankers advantage...

Good etiquette is ganking a miner in your belt, and then leaving CONCORD there for protection. Increased safety and more ore, how can you beat that?

Its pretty much standard procedure to 'summon' Concord before ganking in a system anyway. Costs nothing but 15 minutes and a free noobship - buys you extra time to complete a gank - quite important if ganking solo or in higher sec status systems.
If I don't feel like waiting 10 minutes, I just use another -10 alt to summon, log off the GCC'd char - then switch over to the ganker.

Target is dead seconds after Concord leaves the belt.
Or you can just go the Tornado route and alpha right through the Concord spawn. Instapop is insta, whether Concord is there or not.

Besides, its easier just to assume Concord hasn't been prespawned or in a belt, and just draw them to the station.

That, and 'throwaway' chars that are calling Concord for defensive purposes are quite obvious. Cloaked ganking scouts instantly can identify when it occurs. The only think gankers love more than blowing up miners' ships is getting them banned for botting, real life threats, racist rants or other violations.

All you do is record the name of the throwaway char and miner, addressbook them, check the bio in a few weeks - if the character got biomassed, send in the petition, watch the for the banhammer.

Gankers become quite familiar with miners in the systems they enforce the Code in - more than miners often realize. It just happens when much of your time is spent cloaked 150km from a belt, just watching belt activity. Stuff like this sticks out like a sore thumb.

We also notice when our victims get 'vacations' from EVE, addressbook feature is awesome. Blink

TLDR; In the end, its a tactic of dubious usefulness because ganking standard procedure is generally to summon Concord to begin with - and it costs almost nothing. It also draws ganker attention to the miner with the 'Concord escort' provides an easy avenue for having carebears banned, so all-in-all, I'm for it.Attention

Few things I would like to point out:

1. CONCORD will not protect against alpha strikes or Sheer overkill, which on miners really is not hard to get when each catalyst cranks 500+ DPS
2. CONCORD can be pulled to you, but away from you just as quickly and easily by the gankers so dont count on this to save you more than once or twice.
3. Be careful how you do it, someways are considered as an Exploit
4, Permit tank is better than CONCORD Tank and more reliable, Our kill boards show that much in glaring clarity.
5. Obey the CODE, CODE Always WIns
7. Bet you didn't notice i skipped 6

Of course not. No-one has ever used it and will ever use it. After all, that's why my late-to-the-party blog post is two years old at this point… Lol
