Have CCP decided to remove insurance when you get concorded or is this a temporary bug?

I've checked the last 5 pages of this forum and found nothing at a glance, and there's nothing in the features page of crucible?

Please tell me this is an error and it will work as expected upon release?

Thanks.

I do believe that CCP was planning on removing concorded insurance with this patch, but I'd wait for patch notes to be sure

This is WAD.

Forums were all in an uproar about it a couple of weeks back.

i sure hope not.

As always ccp do something without mention to it (unless i've missed it) and hope nobody notices. There'll be some serious outrage if this gets pushed through. Wouldn't surprise me if people just start ganking for the sake of pissing off the carebears to make CCP listen. :-\

If anyone has seen any mention of removing insurance, please throw me a link, because I haven't seen anything.

Strangest thing is that if it's true, i don't think ANYONE will stop ganking, it'll just add another "valuable" ISK sink (for ccp, not us).

I gank for fun or profit, ultimately my insurance is a nice bonus, but by no means a requirement, to remove it without PROPER notification seems senseless when they're already having to back track and apologise to so many people for screwing up so heavily, then to further that by changing common mechanics without notification is senseless.

I just want consistency, i don't care if it's being removed, but keep us in the loop about these things.

Blergh. :-\

[edit - seen your comment re: uproar, will investigate]

Here, 47 page threadnaut in GD.

Actually, "uproar" is overstating it; it was mostly carebears celebrating and gankbears attempting to outdo each other in not giving a ****. Blue bars here https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=320187#post320187

We took the insurance out because having it was silly. It's like a double reward when you gank someone, you get their cargo and insurance. It won't stop suicide ganking, it just fixes something we haven't really felt made sense for a long time.

But they left in insurance payouts for willful self-destruction of ships.

(There could be some interesting timing tricks where someone initiates self-destruction, then shoots something and hopefully the self-destruct finishes before CONCORD arrives. Or they could just have their corp-mates shoot them down to a sliver of hull, initiate the suicide gank, then get blown up by their corp mates.)

Edit: Destruction of ships in PvP is not an ISK sink. The insurance fee was an ISK sink and the insurance payout was an ISK faucet (and a rather large one). Destruction of ships is just the removal of minerals from the economy - no ISK flows in or out of an NPC wallet.

Suicide ganker tears were absolutely delicious. I hope we have some more when this goes live.

Maybe the self-appointed bad bad suicide wannabe pirate outlaws can stop crying about this now.
Nobody who plays eve really believes it will stop suicide gangking and thats okay. Its part of the game and it is nowehere safe.

You just don't get the insurance for a CRIMINAL act in HIGH SECURITY space. What so complicate to understand about this?

i say we take off and nuke the whole site from orbit. it's the only way to be sure

I found it mildly irritating at first. Singling out gankers for losing insurance (while leaving it in for other 'illogical' reasons) seems to be a punitive slap at a profession that is already very haphazard in its financial rewards - especially when you target Exhumers.

Insurance was hardly a 'double reward', as the payout was significantly below the costs of the hull and destroyed mods - and as we know, gankers ALWAYS die, and ALWAYS take a sec hit. The targets do not. And if they do, there is no guarantee they dropped (or even HAD) anything good. And if they dropped good stuff, there is no guarantee that YOU are going to scoop the loot.

But I'm not irritated anymore. Why?

BECAUSE OF TORNADO

With the fitting and damage hardwires:
40-45M. 8x 1400MM Arty II + 4x Gyrostabs. 13K Alpha, with selectable damage types. Gets a SECOND volley in 13 seconds.

Losing a Tempest/Apoc WITH insurance payout costs almost exactly the same as losing a Tornado WITHOUT insurance.

Its literally like getting your insurance payout UP FRONT, due to 50% smaller upfront costs. And the Tornado is a hell of a lot handier than the rather slow and bulky battleships (not to mention easier skill training).

Crucible is actually a ganking BUFF. The new podkillmails including implants is the cherry on top.

Cry moar, bears - when the price on these things stabilizes in a couple weeks, things are going to get ugly. Lol

iirc - you cannot activate modules with self-destruct going like that. Not my area of expertise but I do recall something about shooting to the end and the like not working with a self-destruct going.
