Without pretend enemies for made up reasons, what would be the point of EVE? Hopefully most of us understand the "pretend" part. IRL I'd have a beer with just about anyone in this game.

Then why so many Non-Aggression Pacts amongst major sov holders in null sec?

Because the alternative is to de-NAP then attempt to grind through a squillion systems and see which coalition dies first of boredom.

Well, you know my name, and what I've done in EVE... and I have no idea who you are, so...

I don't understand why you're so angry. Are you holding an EVE grudge? Cool I never set out to become well-known. A small level of fame was never my goal. I was just playing the game the way I wanted to, and started seeing my name mentioned in blogs and people asking if they could interview me. (I'm a terrible interview, BTW, I don't know how anyone can stand interviewing me lol). I never thought what I did was that special, or in any way important. But it ended up touching people's lives in-game, inspiring some, and infuriating others. And for this, I am truly thankful. Very few games out there allow the Butterfly Effect ("sensitive dependence on initial conditions") the way EVE Online does. It's truly remarkable and blows my mind.

For example, I AWOX'd a corp on my alt, blowing up an Orca and a few mining ships. Later, I receive an EVEmail from one of my victims, explaining that they were mad at me at first, but that they were no longer bored with the game and no longer thinking about quitting it. Instead, they went to FW and are now an up and coming FC. My actions affected them, and inspired them to do something that is now affecting hundreds of other pilots. That's the Butterfly Effect and why I love this game.

You get over it eventually when you play long enough. I mean getting emotional over who you shoot or who you are allied with as if you are around long enough you end up allied with every possible powerblock and end up shooting everyone.

Grudges .. yeah .. you will collect some of these. But these are very personal things you hold dear. A corp theft involving personal betrayal, for example. Things that burn in you through the years even after the original culprit has long since quite the game after you hunting him for few years.

Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... THWONK! GOT the bastard.

To quote a very bad actor in almost as bad a role, from a movie that seemed really really good at first...but upon closer inspection and through the test of time...not so much:

"They hit us...so....we hit them back."

("'Highsec miners may say they come for the ice and ore, but I give them what they really need: Purpose, dignity, structure, order, guidance, leadership. They ask what I am "saving" them from. I save the miners from themselves." This is something people in CODE would say, and it's being used as research material to study the long-term effects of arrested development. What is of particular interest to mental health professionals is how the authors and adherents could possibly view themselves as people of any significance, except to one another [for whatever bizarre reasons that may be.])

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

The fact that they've gotten such a strong reaction from the mining/greater EVE community is the very definition of the word "significance". No need for a lab to analyze it. ;)

Sounds like you might be getting butthurt, I think i'm going to refrain from commenting incase further comments hurt you so much to the point where you form a grudge against me. Same goes for that WH dude, only reason I know of him was due to him to trying to scam me in the past (it didn't succeed either time).

I am not sure how you would perceive that I am butthurt especially considering my comments at the beginning of this thread.

I am particularly interested in your comment about how awoxing and corp theft is not content.

I realize you talked yourself into a corner and probably cant back your comments so I will take you refusal of reply as admitting you shouldn't have said it.

I think he was trying to dismiss other people's playstyles as "invalid" or "not real content" as a knee-jerk reaction inspired by :feelings:, but when confronted realizes he put his foot in his mouth and is now resorting to "lolumad" level discourse.

I know your name and your scamming because you have tried it on me in the past and failed twice, you made so much of an impression on me i'd not heard of you since then until you've commented on my thread.

If you don't mind I would like to see some links to some of these blog posts about you as frankly I've never heard of you outside of my personal experience with you. I highly doubt your gank on this corp you speak of drove this guy to become an FC. I will agree on the fact by tearing about his corp you drove this 1 guy to something he enjoys but what about the other members of this corp if they stopped playing I see that more of a negative outcome to content creation. In my eyes content creation is used for the good and to keep people playing the game, inspiring them to achieve greater things. Yes you did this for one person but again it was one person the others he flew with, do you know whats happened to them?

I've just replied to him and you can see that response, the reason i'm taking a while to reply at the moment is that I am mapping out more moons and creating some kill mail content surrounding my findings. https://zkillboard.com/related/30002555/201408021800/ that kill report shows a fight which occurred over an R64 in Heimatar low sec.

I told ya, I'm a terrible interviewee. Someone from reddit just interviewed me the other day and I just rambled on and on my high pitched, nasally voice. I don't know how they managed to stand me for over an hour. I even requested that they transcribe the interview if they ever publish any of it, just to save me the embarrassment of people hearing me lol.

Well, maybe he was lying in his mail to me, then.

I do keep up on all my victims. I keep them on contact lists under a special label and follow up on what corps they're in and what they're doing. Surprisingly, only a few have quit. And many have abandoned boring solo PvE playstyles for more interactive group play.
