To answer pretty much all the points. It's because the Goons play the metagame, not the game.
Meaning they use spies that spend five years being good alliance mates, fine leaders, skilled FC's, then suddenly if the goons decide you are about to actually achieve a real victory against them they turn on you.
You know your current best friend in game, yea, odds are :).
Unless you believe that it was a random mistake that the goons just happened to have their entire supercap fleet ready to go for B-R, that massive thefts & disbandings have happened over the years all the way back to BOB whenever anyone fights the goons on a scale to threaten the goons in game.

All credit to them for playing the metagame well though. But the reality is when someone plays the metagame to win instead of the game, things get dirty. And players get hurt, not just characters.

Goons - have a good grip on the game mechanics and exploit them - there ... said it.

Your use of the word exploit, while correct in denotative meaning, isn't so correct in connotative meaning. Particularly in this context.

1) How does Goonswarm maintain influential control over the entire game?

Numbers and a good grasp of the political metagame.

2) What drives them to destroy the game?

That may once have been their goal but I do not believe that is any longer the case.

3) Why are they unstoppable?

Nullsec right now is the unstoppable force and the immovable object. So if Goons are unstoppable guess that makes us immovable. Of course in the context of the next few years of nullsec we will see. I have seen the "nullsec is dead so and so has won" argument trotted out many times over the years.

4) Why can't all the powerful alliances team up and end Goonswarm once and for all?

Because their allies are so numerous that the remaining alliances have indeed teamed up leading to something of a stalemate, time will tell which side flinches first.

5) How does one kill a Goon?

Well I cannot tell you that secret. But it involves a horse, a potato and about 3 metres of synthetic rope.............and more laxatives than one person can reasonably buy without arousing suspicion.

I drain ducks of their moisture for sustenance.

Guns work quite well. They're just players like any other, their leadership is just better organized.

Ever since I've heard of EVE, the most terrifying tale is that of Goonswarm.
After looking up their history, they had two Great Wars with an alliance called Band of Brothers, which was defeated. After that, CFC was born.
They seem to have their roots in the Something Awful forums. I've paid a visit there and no post seems to make sense. All their content seems to be primarily composed of stupidity, racism and homophobia. Their fleet is also made out of reckless players that have no moral qualities whatsoever. And now, I'm telling you, CFC: do you really want your alliance to be that low? An alliance represented by trolls and the lowest scum the Internet has seen? You are better than that!
Now, I want to initiate a lil' poll. Who disagrees with Goonswarm and who doesn't?

1) Lots of F1 monkeys. And they don't control the entire game. They've been repeatedly kicked out of wormholes, their less intelligent members regularly die to incompetent war deccers in hisec (same is true of every alliance though) , and at most they control half of nullsec. So at best maybe 15%-25% of the game, if even that.

2) They aren't really destroying the game. They're probably a net positive, while they may do things I disagree with (*cough* doxxing *cough*), overall they've probably helped the game more than they hurt it e.g. tracking titan nerfs, super nerfs, and getting a gaming media sh*t storm rolling on incarna/summer of rage.

3) Lot's of F1 monkeys. But they're not unstoppable. Wormhole dwellers stomped them repeatedly. Likewise, their renter empire (Greater Western ...) is bleeding members slowly, but consistently due to ongoing harassment from a slew of entities.

4) They lack either the raw power or the willpower to do so. Sov warfare sucks because ~insert narrative of choice~. Also, treaties.

5) Interceptors work. So do bombers and blops, but I prefer intys.

I think I like you.
So much QQ about ceptors getting nullified, but my god has it helped to make things interesting...especially in dead end ratting systems that used to be relatively safe when heavily bubblewrapped.

You could wait until he accidentally lets his siege module start a second cycle, then doomsday his naglfar when the rest of the fleet warps off to reinf. the next tower.... :/

So, you're a bounty hunter. No, that ain't it at all. Then what are you? I'm a bounty hunter.
