Returning after long sebatical, feel for some cross training. Matar pilot, and I don't feel much like training to capitals so maybe I'd like some different racial ships. Amarr or caldari, primarily for hac's/recons (can fly all cs's due to the change - but wanna skill up supplementary skills through their cruiser counter parts). Only caveat is I'd like to avoid training rail guns or lasers (so keeping with missiles/drones). Shield/Armour tank doesn't matter. I can pve in just about anything, but I'm accustom to up close AC bullet hoses. I've not pvp'd, but would like to start. Have a 2nd that flies all things gallente so I've already got that flavour. Just curious on opinions as I haven't played in 3yrs and I'm sure those ships aren't what I remember them being (I know the matari ships aren't). Yea for t2 cruisers/bc's. Cheers.

if you have not done any serious pvp yet, i would strongly recommend starting with frigates. faction warfare or red vs. blue are good options. as for weapons, amarr do have some decent drone and missile boats. gallente (obviously) have very good drone boats, caldari are mostly missiles or rails.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Ok, I suppose I should be more specific. I do know what systems each race is using as far as weapons/tank and knew the roles (to an extent) ships used to fill. Of course I wouldn't simply just hop into a CS, HAC, or pirate cruiser first thing and go looking for a fight. I would go through the natural progression of things (actually just took advantage of whatever ccp's special of 6months basically pay for 3 for an extra accnt with which I'll just be doing hisec things with; such as FW).

I'm more interested in what the changes from the past 2.5-3yrs have done to the main ships I'm interested in. Heavy missiles/assaults have taken a hit haven't they? How does the additions of ASB and AAR's affect curse/pilgrims.

Yes it's a little lazy of me as I could search but the time frame I'm inquiring about has a lot of information and much of it will be simply chaff I'm not concerned with (besides I work 12hr days, playtime is limited). Sorry for an OP which amounted to a vague "what ship should I get".

I'm slightly tilted towards Amarr simply due to a pilgrim and the thought of being able hunt like a sub is appealing. As well the T2 Amarr variants plug their resist holes in their tank much like the Matar plugs theirs. But I don't know what sort of nerd HAM's and cap warfare has taken (or any other changes I'm unaware of).

I know you said you dont want to, but one of the changes was to Medium Rails and they are pretty good right now, might want to reconsider training them.

I suppose it's not so much that I don't want to but that I have a gallente accnt already. My interests, from using ac's so much, would lie with blasters/brawling (yes I know, go train gallente, it just feels really redundant having those ships on both accnts - besides I trained BC V so upon return I've been grandfathered to all 4 racial BC to V so more than likely I'll fit up an Eos anyways, drone boat is enough gallente flavour for me... Although Deimos looks appealing at first reglance).

The cross train isn't so much about best ship but flavour/fun (and still having effectiveness). Matar branches of well it seems(ed) as I just trained all taking and 3 weapon systems. I guess while doing some FW in Amarr/caldari frigs I'll take my other accnt out and pve with some blaster boats some.
