The book that feels most like Eve to me is 'Blindsight' by Peter Watts. Cold, hard, ruthless and full of psychos. It's like Rendezvous with Rama meets Lovecraft. On crack. (And the best part - it's free: http://rifters.com/real/Blindsight.htm)

I've never had a book call me a griefing obese basement troll colored skin socialist homosexual potlicker before so I can't compare it to a book.

Yes, Eve is indeed like the Titanic.

To add to the book orgy in this thread, I submit Altered Carbon for clones, alts and shenanigans. I also recommend Neal Asher's Polity Universe novels. Finally I recommend Empyrean Age, which is a novel set in the EvE universe. Some of the novel is iffy but it does give some good pointers to in universe events and some good background lore. As well as the novel there is also a bevy of short stories available...somewhere on this site, I only knew where they were on the old forums and have not sought them out in a while.

+1 For Altered Carbon and Neal Asher. I would also like to add the Expanse novels by James S.A. Corey. First one is "Leviathan wakes".

As for Eve fiction - enjoy:

Oh, and not technically science fiction - but if you want pure swashbuckling pirate fun with lots of dogfights, read the "Tales of the Ketty Jay" books by Chris Wooding. First one is "Retribution Falls". It has the most adorable golem.

It's most like an Archie comic. And no, I'll not say why I think that.

I think that depends a lot on individual play-style, experience and outlook.

With that in mind, for me EVE is often a lot like 50 Shades.

I imagine for many though it must be a lot like this.

Oh and here I thought you meant it was building up to an inevitable point that everyone knew was coming anyway, and then promptly declining in substance and relativity before fading to black.

I was kind of hoping it meant Kate Winslet plays EvE, and this thread was going to have naked pics of her at a computer playing one-handed like everyone else does.

Wouldn't it just be great to hear her on comms out of nowhere? "Point me. Point me like one of your French girls."

Titanic was exceedingly boring. The last hour was the most painful experience I ever had sitting down,
aside from a root canal.

If you thought it was a perfect movie, I doubt giving you the names of books that are an excellent read would proffer much. Be that as it may, I will suggest this:

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

It is appropriate, then, that one of the finest posters this forum has ever seen posted it.
