Giving CCP Props where it's due.

I play a couple of MMO's, EVE being one of them obviously... for the last 3 weeks I have been fighting with another MMO over their billing system.. mainly because I can't access it from my account to change cards after changing banks. Their system flat refuses to let me in to change sub, card, etc. It's borked beyond reason and for three weeks their **** poor CS has had me jumping through 10,000 hoops that accomplish nothing...

Now, a while back I had a problem with billing here at EVE, I contacted CS and in short order had the billing issue resolved, and it was much the same issue. Unable to access the billing system.

I've had a love/hate relationship with EVE since I started playing years ago.. but I have to give them props for keeping their billing system working, or fixing it fast when it borks.

That other game... I won't be giving them any more of my money. They can't even fix their billing portal. Of course, it's an EA game so I guess that says it all.

*re-ups my secondary account in EVE with the sub money I was gonna give my other mistress.*

It is indeed sometimes nice to know theirs at least one adult working for the company and is dealing with exactly what you would hope.

It did take them 2 months to replace one of my ships due to the Concord bug but I'm glad to hear when it comes to money they can respond in a reasonable period of time.

Oh anything to do with accounts and billing is dealt with almost immediately,
the only reason i know of where this wasn't the case is when they have trouble contacting you.

When I was closing my EA account, I had to pass through multiple steps, wait for 24 hours for confirmation, receive an offer of 10% for all their games if I stay and actually be in a live chat with their sales representative in order to confirm that I'm of sound mind and body and that I definitively want to close the account by providing a well worded reason for why I'm doing it.

I can close an EVE account with a single click Lol

Please tell me you're not serious about the live chat. I can't tell if you're joking or not, that's how bad EA are.

I was expecting a "Give CCP Guard a rubber chicken or comically oversized sunglasses in the next video." thread.

Leaving disappointed.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

For security purposes, it isn’t possible for players to close an Origin (EA) account themselves. In order to delete an Origin (EA) Account, players will need to contact one of our Game Advisors, who will be happy to assist them. Please be aware that for security reasons, when you speak to a Game Advisor, you’ll be asked a number of questions to verify account ownership.

I closed an EA account some time ago and after it had been inactive for 6 months they sent me some e-mail that went straight to my spam folder saying "we're reactivating your account, if you don't want us to do this you must respond to this e-mail and let us know." After getting dinged for one payment I re-cancelled the sub and wrote them an e-mail that said essentially "Under no circumstances is anyone at EA authorized to put ANY charge on ANY credit card belonging to me ever again. Rest assured I will NEVER make the mistake of buying from you again. If I see any more charges from EA I will file a credit card fraud complaint against you. I am also keeping several copies of this e-mail with a date stamp in case I need to follow through. Understood?"

They never answered or charged me again.

With EA only releasing small portions of a game at a time in order to charge you 7 or 8 times for a single game they make it very easy to avoid the temptation to buy something that looks good because I know full well that all the good parts will be held ransom and the old 80s coin-op, impossible difficulty, arcade games asked for a quarter less often than EA asks for $60. Some two years later I still haven't bought anything from EA, I don't miss it and EA's CEO got fired. I danced about the grave of his career and I honestly hope he never works again and if he does it better be in something other than gaming or anything else I care about.

Although we've established here that the pit of horrible customer service goes extremely deep, this is not something to aim for nor is it something you should try to beat by a narrow margin (you could answer your phone at customer service with a massive belch and still beat EA by a wide margin). I've had nothing but good things to say about CCP customer service as well. The two times I've had to contact CCP directly I've gotten enough responses to have the situation resolved within a few hours. The crew at CCP probably don't get recognized as often as they should for the quality of their customer service.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.

Since I'm a pirate I never actually pay for anything what is so bad about EA? I've heard it constantly all over the internet but no RL. Is it like a french=surrender joke or something?

Good. I want any issues involving my RL money dealt with before my pixelife issues.

I love the fact that they do that. I find it comforting the product I'm hooked on is kept in working condtion. It also has the side-effect that I view every other game as inherently "broken".

I've had to deal with money issues with 3 companies as far as MMO's are concerned, and to be honest, CCP was the worst of the 3. I have not had to deal with EA, sounds like they are dreadful from this thread.

Abloobloobloo mean old CCP is actually fixing and developing their games as opposed to other MMO's that go into 12 hour DT once a week and does literally nothing to it but cool it down.Roll The patches I don't mind it shows at least that CCP cares or something as opposed to other games where they won't fix an easily doable glitch for 3 months and ban anyone doing it even if they do it by accident.
