Man the fun this is going to cause in big fleet battles with silly amounts of TiDi. Local is already spammed like crazy with BS links to slow down people's computers and cause crashes I can only imagine the added bonus of having to click to dismiss a change every 30 seconds (20 mins in TiDi time) that's not going to cause any issues.

I personally have local closed but there's a lot of folks who madly click everything posted because they have to be "that guy" I await the exploits and issues to come.

Does this mean that overview states will finally be made useful?

Example: Show only war targets.

As someone who just had to help 5 friends on trial accounts learn how to set up their overview settings (even after mailing them my own) I can definitely relate to and appreciate the implications of this project. Great quality of life improvement!

The states are not changing (the presentation of them is, so it's more obvious that you are picking what to filter out).

When starting this, I thought we had to completely change the states, so you would pick what you wanted in your overview (example: war targets) rather than what you didn't want.
When looking better into it, we quickly ran into this case
- I want -5 dudes in my overview so I check them -> my corp mates that are -5 now all show in the overview, not what I want

So (at least for now) it's the same as before, sorry if that's not ideal for you What?

what does it actually share? only the overview tab and bracket profiles or also the other settings like priorities etc.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

All... priorities, colors, blinking settings, groups, states, columns, pre/postfixes on ships, tab setup, tab presets used in the overview and other settings... should be all settings in the overview settings window.

It needs to be overview settings (what shows up), color coding, and prioritization/enabling of classes of targets.

Just dragging what shows up, without the colors/prioritization embedded, leaves us exactly where we are today with downloaded overview packs that still requires us to "un-eff" our overview on each update/installation.

This was my first thought as well.

There needs to be some confirmation that the link is, indeed, an overview setting and/or a required acceptance of "Yes please overwrite" my settings with this one.

I'm right behind you

Hey CCP, you have a perfectly cromulent system for how to share overviews already in game. MAKE IT EXACTLY LIKE THE SHARED FITS system. PRESTO, it's super simple to use, you already know how to code it, and everyone gets the features they wanted from it.

IE: instead of overwriting whatever your current overview is (seriously, this was your idea?), it opens the overview settings window and shows the new overviews' settings. (just like a fit) and then lets you name and save it to your list of overviews (just like fits).

PLEASE!!!!!!

I really like this idea. +1

Just use a tristate: filter/exclude/ignore.

EDIT: Uh, maybe that wording's unclear. By "filter" I mean "anything without this state is excluded", by exclude I mean "anything with this state is excluded" and by ignore I mean "this state does not affect whether the entity appears on your overview".

For the UI, you can have tick, cross and empty box or circle, cross and empty.

Very, very cool! Big smile

Instead of a unisized overview, we can finally have specialized, and easily switch between them. Yay! \o/

Would something similar be at all possible for sets of window positions and sizes? It has the same one-size-to-fit-all-activities malady. (Trading setup, salvaging setup, industry setup, ...)

Btw, the '+'-Tab is at the moment very "conveniently" placed for misclicking, and evoking an in-your-face dialog box at the worst possible moment.

Stealth deletes are bad.

That's why one of the first things you'll do is send yourself an EVE mail with your own settings, in case you should ever fall for a stunt like that.

You can even paste it in one of the notes. Instant View-heal.

No need to thank me.

Would it also be possible to have the window arrangement saved in the preset, so that I don't need to move every single window into the right position whenever logging onto an alt?

At last a decent way to solve the overviews that have been horrible done.

Next question could we have more than 5 tabs, maybe 8 or 10?

Can we also fix the annoying "Pilot has no standing" state. From my understanding its currently impossible to create a friendly (good/excellent/corp/fleet standing) overview without also having pilots with no standing included.
