You are aware that people have been found guilty for online harrassment/mobbing by RL courts?

Additionally, some people seem to disagree in the fact there are some lines that should not be crossed.

I mean, WTF. Leave the victim of in game racisn to fend for themselves, spouting HTFU along the way? What is wrong with you?

There's nothing wrong with me, what is wrong is when people believe that online avatars represent real life personalities.

Whether you like it or not, there is a real person sitting at the computer, there is a certain level of anger or annoyance, where it is very likely the actions of the ingame avatars are aimed at the rl person, and thus opening themselves to justifyable contempt.

In both cases the problem is the intent to further upset another person.
you seem to be mistaking "intending to upset some one" with "intending to play the game, which is unfortunately populated by people who get upset at losing video games"
I dunno, it seems pretty clear that the aggressor was not just "playing the game". They saw the C&P tear post then hunted them down specifically to get their share of tears.

no, it's not "pretty clear" at all.

you just want it to be that way otherwise you're terrible trolling attempts have no ground to stand on.
Nah, it's pretty clear.

lack of supporting evidence dictates otherwise.

There's a real difference between harassment and simply trying to make somebody lose more ships.

Ex.1) I make your ship explode and you swear at me, you call me names, I lead you on and you die some more then I call you names. Problem 1) You started it 2) I'm not harassing you I'm winding you up so I can stomp you again. That's part of EvE HTFU! <- my current war targets are in this boat and reporting me.

Ex. 2) You get camped in a station by myself and some friends. You spend 4 days being an enraged racist, sexist, hate mongering self proclaimed bible belt American(real example). See, this is somebody harassing people, he's not playing the game, he's not trying to psych somebody out......he just didn't like women, homosexuals, colored people or socialists a whole lot.

Recruitment Officer: What type of a pilot are you? Me: I've been described as a Ray Charles with Parkinsons and a drinking problem.

It's not a joke. My online social accounts hold no reference whatsoever to my online personality or any of the real life habits I wish to keep secret, such as my cocaine addiction, which I feel entirely comfortable sharing here in this thread. That's because I want people to think I'm someone far more presentable than my own behaviour enables.

When I become anonymous, I can behave (mostly) as I wish and any offense I take from others can be shrugged off fairly easily (barring a few petty grudges, but those are just for fun). I can't do that with real people.

This is the eternal problem, once you can destroy the labor of a avatar, that represents either online or subscription time, where is the difference between doing that and, say burning down ones matchstick model of the eiffel tower he has made in his spare time? :)

Those were just matches, heres 2 bucks for them :)

Not much weight in most countries, hower, point taken, this thread is about harrassment, the key points to observe here are not theft, or destruction, but spcifically the mention of forums as the reason for the attack and the continuing of roleplay despite seeing it makes the player only more irrate.
