Steam sale: Valid with regular EVE accounts?

Hi, simple question. If I buy a 12 months subscription in Steam now that they are on sale, will I be able to use it with my current regular account, or do I need an acount created through Steam with one of their Starter packs?

Steam Eve accounts are locked to Steams weird authentication thing. You can't move between them.

Because the Legacy Code has too much Psssssssssssssssh, nothing will ever get fixed until CCP stop wasting money on failed sparkle MMOs and instead rewrite the entire backend of EvE from scratch.

So, that is a no, right? I do not want to buy an steam account. I just want to buy the 12 month subscription and then apply it to my current regular account.
