First, drones and swarm - yes, those words form a perfect association! Drones blotting out the sun!
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4565065#post4565065 Well, that's what i had to say about that a while ago. Tho i focused more on the visual side and immersion aspect.

Adding resistance chewing would certainly spice things up.
However, resistance chewing is something that CCP has tried avoiding giving to the hands of players for its potential as a force multiplier. I see it being rather balanced if it targeted only base hull resistances, leaving active effects from modules on. Still, imagine it bring used in capital warfare. That'll be a ton of unhappy titan pilots, i'm telling you!

What might Also be cool is module stutdown (like if it has burned out) on random principle every 20 seconds for 10 seconds or something like that. I've seen this proposed as a way to rework jammers, but it really makes sense that a nanite swarm will incapacitate certain internal systems and it will take time for the nanites to be purged from the system and the functionality to be restored.

Or for them to be covering thermal exchange panels, multiplying overheat rate - the meter that gets filled up, not the overload strength. Why people started erroneously calling overload overheating anyway, its the side effect!

Mentioning that drone ship could act like strategic cruisers

What if, post strategic cruiser reballance, a drone platform could be introduced, that could be made to use the subsystems from ANY race (drones are scavengers after all) yet giving it a unique dronified look - now that would be a real unholy abomination to be scared of! (dronified look means that the subsystem only slightly resembles the original, allowing components otherwise not meant to fit together to form a single ship, having certain prominent features of the original - the hammerhead gallente electronics subsystem, or the micro-avatar ammar one would retain their base fetures, protruding form an otherwise drone body.)

And it could provide a base for better "sentient" drones, scavenging advanced components from capsuleer ships and being noticeably stronger than their fodder brothers. Now that could make a story worth telling out of EVE PvE - Not something that occurs regularely :)

Anyways, I see this more of an opportunity to collect good suggestions of the past and connect them, each of them might not have worked, combined, maybe. So here you go, make it work. I actually think I found a solution for the on grid/off grid boost so one day I have to make a new thread in this regard, it will combine existing ideas which all have failed standing alone .. so maybe one day is the right day (sure there will be 'sneak xxx thread' replies).

gl then. some would say that combining 10 failed ideas would just make a another heap of 10 failed ideas. Big smile

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

Yeah, right, like heating up wheat alone, then try heating up only water and see if it becomes solid and chewable, maybe heating up pure yeast, heating salt and heating herbs .... then someone came along and tried combinations Roll
Sure, nothing could ever come from combining failed or useless concepts.... glad you dismantled all of chemistry and like all scientific methods of trying and testing.

I've sometimes thought encounters with rogue drones should make you ask the question: "Hey! Why are my drones shooting me now?!"

I like the idea overall. It would add more value to the Rogue drones themselves.

Though, I have some issue with the argument that removing drone compounds was a good idea because it gave capsuleers free minerals. Its a bit silly when you consider items dropped from Guristas or Serpentis, for example, can not only be used on your own ship or sold but can also be reprocessed into "free" minerals. Given the reprocessing changes, it doesn't seem over the top to bring drone compounds back with a lowered base mineral value.

But otherwise, fun idea.

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.

Lore answer: Another being has taken control of ships. We kill those ships and they offer little information or resources. Story line dies.

Realistic answer: Little loot procured only worth shooting if trying to fix sec status or in a -.9

Blanace problems.
