Keep it to worthless junk and stay off the more valuable ships i'd say. All the worthless crap will die in a fire or dissapear as accounts are closed for ever.

Imagine, for a moment, that you're a new player. You've seen the 'Power of Two' advertisements, but you're a bit hesitant because you don't know if you'll really like the game.

Now imagine that instead of getting a Cerebral Accelerator -- which boosts your stats and makes it easier to get into space, you get a 'vanity' ship like the Zephyr which, while admittedly a neat-looking ship, has no combat potential, no cargo space, can't fit any turrets or launchers, and has the overall durability of a gnat.

Personally, I prefer the implant, because it does something useful for new pilots.

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

I wasn't around for the Apoth and Zephyr, but I have to agree that things like these shuttles (however useless from a practical sense they may be) have more of a symbolic value to the players that were around to recieve them than CCP seems to get. If they are content on handing these out to us new kids on the block, then I say they need to stamp the suttles' info cards with a unique date-of-manufacture to set them apart and/or placing a unique emblem on the shuttles' hulls like the AT ships have.

Bottom line, make the original originals unique even from the new originals.

P.S., In fact, would date-stamping every ship in EVE be possible?

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

They could have just renamed the original typeID for the old ships as "Shipname Year", then created a new TypeID record with some new name "Shipname NewYear". Sure, the model would be the same, but it would at least be named differently.

As an avid collector of one-off items, I find myself in agreement with the OP.

The cerebral accelerator I couldn't care less about or the special Quafe for that matter. They are used up and done with. But the ships, mine BPOs, T2 BPOs, etc should remain as historic artifacts and not be recycled because of lazy devs or cramped release schedules.

These are collectors items and should remain that way.

Why not give out an Opux luxury yatch or something then?

You are absolutely right. Where do we draw the line? CCP might as well start handing out all the Alliance Tournament prizes including Imperial Issue Apo & Geddon, Guardian-Vexor, Raven State Issue, Tempest State Issue, Silver & Gold Guardians, Freki, Mimir, Utu, Adrestia, Vangur, and Malice as part of a Sales Promotion.

Oh and lets not forget the Megathron Federate Issue and Opus Luxury Yacht as part of the "Buy 26 x PLEXs and Receive a Ship" event as well.

And the Alliance Tournament Medals for those who bring in the subscriptions of new accounts. Presumably, Alliance Tournament Gold medal for those who bring 3 or more.

Just like how all the Alliance Tournament & Live Events ships have unique history and sentimental values attached to them, Apotheosis and other unique ingame items are no different. Although the sheer scope of distribution makes the market value of these shuttles not comparable to the Tourney ships, owners of these beautiful shuttles still have fond memories attached to them.

Here is the ingame description of the shuttle Apotheosis:

"For you, children, on your fifth birthday. May your next five years be as full of promise and hope, and may you one day walk with us as equals among the stars."
Idmei Sver, Society of Conscious Thought, on the fifth anniversary of the Capsuleer Era.

How does the "Power of 2 & Buy 13 x PLEX and receive free ship" in any ways, relate to the description above?

Please stop recycling old historical ingame items please.

Of all ships, why did CCP give apothosis? Why not regular t1 ships...

I agree with the op - regardless of their little use, there was also finite suplly of these ships, so some people may have invested into them because of that. Luckily I didn't, but I'd be rather mad if I invest into a ship that can only increase in price due to declining numbers ingame and then CCP starts handing them out as a freebie for newbs.

Oh and on a side note - since everyone calls the ship 'Vangur' in this thread - it's 'Vangel'...

Cerebral is great. I am really pleased that CCP brought this back! Smile

It's great that CCP brought the Cerebral Accelerator back, but they should've introduced an item with different name but of identical nature so the values/worth of the original Accelerators are not devalued.

We are fine with CCP providing items as part of their sales promotion as long as they are not the same items already issued to commemorate certain historical events. Recycling old historical items only cheapens the sentimental values attached to those items.

I'm inclined to agree. It wouldn't cost much of anything to even re-release the exact same item with a different name, if they are dead set on re-using old resources.

This way it doesn't get on the collector's nerves (and gives them an additional item to collect!)

You are doing it wrong.

Saying that they should refrain from using their own IP is bonkers. What you SHOULD ask them to do is make the newly distributed ships separate database entries so they can add a "2nd Edition" or even "3rd Edition" text to the show info on them.

That way CCP gets to use their art work for publicity stunts, new groupies gets some bling and collectors such as yourself are protected from whatever it is you feel you need protection from.

I support this motion.

Its ridiculous to give away a "unique" item in a game like eve where everything dies and economies reflect rareness, only to reintroduce a limited edition item to push PLEX sales.

Its a cheap ploy, and is incredibly unfair to collectors and curators of the ships of eve's past

Stop this nonsense, CCP, this has gone too far.

Every year, I used to be so excited about wondering what unique items CCP will hand out as the "end of the year" anniversary gifts. I don't feel the same anymore. =(

It could be worse, they could be using InterBus shuttles.

It could be worse. That's what I am concerned about. If Apotheosis is being sacrificed for quick profit, then what would be CCP's next move to entice more players from joining the game or buying additional PLEXs?

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised to see Gold Magnate, Opux Luxury Yacht, or Apocalypse Imperial Issue being handed out as an appreciation token for purchasing 24 x PLEXs or bringing in 3 recruits.

Please CCP, I beg you. Stop recycling the old unique collectible items and cheapening the experience and sentimental values of hundreds of players. Please create NEW items with SAME PROPERTIES instead of recycling old items. We are not asking much here CryCryCry
