If Eve is dying then its the most attractive corpse I've ever seen

Lack of content my Large Artillery Specialisation.

Just because some of you are too lazy, inept or downright s........ oooo almost ranted there.

There is plenty of content to be found if you put some effort in.

Eve is the dark haired, totally hot emo gothchild of the gaming community

Personally I like to go with new things to do, which inspires new ways to do things. They need to get Crius released and I might bring back about 15 accounts, depending on its impact but at current state, of 28 accounts, I'm planing to keep only 4 active. Eve hasn't had anything truly new and fun that was meaningful in I can't remember how long. With nullsec becoming such a freaking safety donut, it just isn't the same. Rental empires are the root cause of all evil.

I go inactive for a few months then come back for a few then repeat as I have to study/enjoy summer etc... so other people are properly the same.

saying that alot of my friends have heard about eve but say its to hard to get into so they don't bother.

CCP decided that being more mainstream would be awesome and started working on that (years ago actually), and now that everything IS more mainstream the initial customers (who made it all happen) stopped bothering because of it.

Yes, yes I am. Thanks for noticing.

Over 30 friends I used to fly with all unsubbed over the past year. At least 26 of them all had alts. That was all in just one corp. Saw a lot of alliance people go MIA over the past year too.

No , this ain't another 'EvE is dying' thread. EvE was and is dying.

But I am curious. I went through my mails (say up to 6 months old) and i noticed how many pilots i knew and flew with went inactive.
All from different corps (small/big, hisec/low/null, high/low SP players...etc.), some had RL issues (or just were too busy to play games) but most went inactive from 1 day to another never to be seen online again.
So is it just me or did some of you notice something similar ?
Is there a general cause that might get guys stop playing ? (a hisec bear might not be worried about the current state of nullsec)

To be on the safe side - in case you are bored / plan to take a break - can i have your stuff or at least ships ?

Its normal ****. I went inactive 2 times and still came back. This hobby consumes much time, thats why it interferes with RL here and there.
I for myself is very proud to tell people that I play Excel in space.

I know that feeling!

I have played since 03 so almost all the people i once played with stopped playing over the past decade, some are still knocking about, sometimes i see a name in local i have not spoken to in an age, problem is you never know if they are still the original owner!

I myself go through spits and spurts depending on how busy i am in RL, with 4 kids and a full time (high pressure) job sometimes the last thing i want to do is game, but then i might have a good week and play my arse for a few days.

The main problem i have is i am space well off, i have enough isk and assets to fund my account for the next few years in plex without lifting a finger so i have no huge urge to log in unless war is upon us or something similar! to be honest if not for the fact i have invested so much time into Xtreem for the past 11 year I would most likely have left by now!

What 'fact' do you mean ? Care to explain your statement ?
I asked if others had a similar experience in the last months. I know the peek concurrent user levels have gone down and even some posts here confirmed a lot of alt-accounts are being not subbed anymore, but i couldn't care less about that.
I am however playing for a few years now and only seen guys going inactive en masse (never to be seen again) in the last months.

Thanks to all that cared to post their experience.
My corp & alliance mates keep EvE fresh for me, but what made me start the thread was the amount of out of corp contacts that have gone inactive.

Truth. For years EVE was this cutthroat place of fun and creativity and danger.

Now we have cute little green safeties and crime watch rules and pop ups that keeps us from hurting our wee little selves. How ever did i survive in high sec flying faction/pirate ships without getting ganked for years prior to all this safety i don't know.... Oh wait, I do know, because I paid attention to the game i was playing.....

This is just another EVE is dying thread. Your initial denial that the thread isn't was what.. to pacify any criticism?

My point is, you think that yourself and five guys seeing "a lot" (you still haven't given us a number) of unsubs must indicate that EVE is on a decline. You want to create your own echo chamber in this thread.. that's fine, but your analysis seems to preclude any statistical information.

Reading the entrails of birds to tell the future. Anecdotal "data" is exactly that.

You should read TMC more. There was a recent 'data' saturated chart thrown up as to how eve is quite literally bleeding subs.

Right.

I've seen lots of people come and go. EVE is a game, that's going to happen. I never once thought "my friends are leaving, EVE is dying". I thought "my friends moved on, I'm not ready to, I'll just make new friends and holler at my old ones on face book from time to time".

I did read it. Did you? The author's take on it is (by his own admission) very loose.. based on largely Goonswarm centric events such as SOV interactions with TEST, B-R, and Burn Jita.

Maybe you can enlighten us and give us your specific take on the data. I hope you'll understand if we don't immediately swoon at your "correlation is causation" conclusions.

Maybe you meant that Mittani article about rookies in the threadnaught which read more like a Ripard Teg article. That article is a mixed bag, and you're better off discussing in the threadnaught.

I sadly don't have the numbers you seek, if i had them i wouldn't have started this thread. Since i don't have the numbers i asked others if they experienced a similar decline in active contacts as me. The initial statement was done in hope to have -1/-2 'eve is dying' posts and more of those kind of Altirius Saldiaro's.
