Closing Corp for War Declaration

I'm having a difficult time finding any info on this, but I've war dec'd the same group of people twice now, and twice they have "surrendered", closed corp and founded a new one.

Is this legal? I've read that "corp hopping" for war decs is actionable ( sort of), but I'm not sure about this.

And yes, I've filed a ticket, but just curious if there's any information out there regarding this that I've missed.

They can do this as many times as they like.

Perhaps try war deccing somebody who actually wants to fight?

Congratulations! Any in-space assets you were contesting have been forfeited by the closure of their corp!

That's what you were wardeccing them about, right? Surely you didn't think people were just going to lay their PvE ships out on a platter for you.

Pretty much this.

Best to wardec a corp with assets they would lose if they dissolved the corp.....a POS, or a POCO or 2.

Of course, in that event they will most likely drop corp (except for the CEO/placeholder alt ) and/or simply go play Star Trek Online until the war is over.

I would appreciate the names of these players.

Since CCP stopped punishing this exploit (it used to be a bannable offence) this has become much more common. I'd be interested in seeing if I can make their lives misery by ganking them repeatedly.

For a long time, I've wondered why people haven't managed to draw a correlation between the two.

Wardecs are so ineffective they can only be done by cherrypicking targets, or by banding together into an enormous alliance to wardecs dozens of corps at once.

Wardecs are ineffective because at the end of the day it's Hisec, the place where people who don't want to be shot don't get shot at unless they're doing something stupid or dangerous.

You can declare wars on people arbitrarily because that's the easiest way to make sure people can't game themselves into wardec immunity through some dumb loophole that CCP would inevitably leave in a more intricate system, but the mechanic does not exist to provide you with hunting permits for people who don't want to fight you and have nothing to fight you over.

Is that how you usually debate? Only engage the side that agrees with you?

It seems to me that a good counter is being made. Why are you forcing war on capsuleers that clearly don't want to fight (they surrendered) and clearly have nothing of value to fight for (they disbanded the corp)?

I'm new to the game so please enlighten me.

On a completely unrelated topic, please also explain to me what "griefing" is.

OP, this is relatively normal behavior, along with simply not undocking or logging in, or staying in NPC corps. Some people playing this game will go to great lengths to prevent other players from shooting them, and CCP has stated that this is all legal.

If you want to increase the odds of your targets standing and fighting, try picking one with in-space assets that they don't want to lose. Even if all members drop corp and move to a new one to avoid getting shot at, chances are that they'll leave their existing corp intact with a holding character, otherwise they simply forfeit said assets. This is actually a great thing, because now you have assets that are completely undefended by players that you can shoot at will. Either way, they lose.

I remember when this use to happen... It just meant you docked up for one war, and some people wouldd create fake wars just to claim they stayed in corp for some.

On the other hand... I would also watch repeatedly ganking specific people. Ganking a nebulous group of players like miners or haulers is fine. Specifically targeting a group and hunting them no matter where they go cause start heading into harassment, which is also bannable.

So be careful, there are some gray lines out there, and the more people tread on them too heavily, the more chance we get annoying black and white rules that kill the sandbox.

why not go and fight in lowsec or null instead of hiding in highsec and ganking corps which cant fight, love to see how well you would do against an actual pvp corp
