Does "Signal Dispersion" affect ECM Burst as well?

Hello Capsuleer,

does the skill "Signal Dispersion" (+5% ECM strength per level) affect ECM burst like "Remote ECM Burst" for SCs as well?

EFT says... yes, to all modules except the Super-Carrier-modul!

Remote ECM Burst = essentially a Lockbreaker Bomb, without the bomb.

Skills other than Projected Electronic Countermeasures do not effect it.

please explain what ECM burst is supposed to do...

how does it work?

break lock of all targets within 10 km range??? Break some locks partially based on sensor strength?

How do you use ECM burst module the way it is meant to be used?

ECM Burst is a different module than Remote ECM Burst.

The ECM Burst module is similar to a non-targeted Multi Spectrum Jammer that affects all ships within range (from your ship), but unlike a jammer it only breaks locks. Whether it succeeds is chance based, exactly like a jammer, which is affected by burst strength vs. sensor strength.

ECM Burst is best used on a Scorpion which has a bonus for it:

Caldari Battleship skill level:
15.00% bonus to ECM Target Jammer strength
25.00% bonus to ECM Target Jammer optimal range and falloff
25.00% bonus to ECM Burst range

ECM range works like all EWAR range: within optimal there is no range penalty, but with increasing falloff there is an increasing chance the effect will not be applied (roughly 50% success at optimal + falloff and 5% success at optimal + 2 * falloff). This is applied on top of the random chance to fail.

Not sure on intended use, as it is really only useful for a suicide extraction.
