I have a negative standing with gallente federation of -4.40. I want to fix that so i can join faction warfare. How would i go about doing this? I can do level one missions for someone like the federation navy, but that only raises my standing with that corp. It's not raising my standing with the gallente.

check this out.

as for usual missions, they do indeed raise corp standings only, but after every 16 missions of same level (regardless of type or corporation) will give you a storyline mission from a storyline agents nearest to the agent who gave you the 16th mission. these storyline missions give a faction standings boost, in addition to a nice corp standings boost.

Wow thats a hell of a plan lol. Is it more effective to work the plan than it is to keep doing storyline missions when offered? With having to jump around to 15 different agents doing missions, this that and the other thing the plan calls for.

if you get any storyline missions while working the plan, you can run them, but if your idea is to just run regular missions and then the storyline that gets offered once in a while, then no, that is not as quick as doing the plan.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Ok. So basically i'll have more opportunity throughout the plan to raise it. Ok then... To the plan!

Best thing about the plan is that besides the T1 firgate you move from hub to hub in, they give you almost everything needed for each hub. Do yourself a favor though, and knock them out in this order:

Military
Advanced Military
Exploration
Business
Industry

Reasons:

  • In Exploration, they give you the ship that Industry mission 10 of 10 wants you to make. Saves you 3 hours of production time or the cost to buy it on the market.
  • In Military 4/10 and Business 7/10, you end up with 2x 1MN Afterburners, which is the requirement for Business 9/10.
  • In Advanced Military, you get the starter frigate and all the gear that will accomplish every Business mission with the ship restrictions.

Important notes -

  • DO NOT reprocess anything other than duplicates of modules or ships (you get 2x starter frigates and 2x Ventures at each hub), until you are done with all 5 agents. Then, reprocess everything other the frigate and cargo you arrived in, sell the rocks, and take off to next hub.
  • In Advanced Military 2 of 10, do not fit anything to the frigate they give you, because it must blow up and all you need to do is fly it straight at the target anyway.
  • In Advanced Military 5 of 10, fit only one gun/launcher and 200rounds/20missiles, max. That ship too must get blown up, so don't waste anything more than what is bare minimum required.

If it sounds like I've done these a few times, it's because I only have Minmatar left, and have already done all 3 career hubs for Caldari, Amarr and Gallente.

All good info posted in this thread.

Blink

Just wanted to add a couple of things :

When doing the Advanced Military missions that destroy your ship, purchase the max amount of Insurance before those missions. Basically you'll make ISK for the ship being destroyed.

When working 'The Plan', it's not necessary to follow it exactly if not needed. You can customize 'The Plan' to fit your specific situation by just working sections of it whenever needed.

Good luck.

I personally do storyline missions for Sisters of EVE to keep the Gallente from hating me, and Blood Stained Stars every 3 months for Minmatar or Gallente as needed.

Of course, unlike the OP, I don't want the other factions to hate me.

Also just to let you know that after having completed 'The Plan' myself, I now have the 4 main Empires well above +7.00 Faction Standing with all minor Empires ranging between +3.00 to +5.00 Faction Standing. That's a total of 13 different Factions with positive standing.

The only negative Faction Standings I have are with the Pirate Factions.

Train up Diplomacy (not that the Plan is a bad one, but the skill is a lot less work).

except diplomacy won't get him to the necessary standings to be in FW (at least from having -4.4 --- IIRC, Diplo 4 only takes me from about -4.6 to about -2.4 "just barely able to fly in 1.00 systems without facpo getting uppity")

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

That's true, but Diplomacy can still do the heavy lifting.

Yup -- but IIRC, you still need to get positive with them (or at least 0.00 BEFORE skills are taken into account)

It's generally easier to find good agents when you can fly in their own faction's space.

Here's a convenient agent search tool which helps you find the holy grail: mission agents right next to a storyline agent for that faction :)

Sorry Chribba :)

Not so. If your base standing is non-negative, only Connections applies; if negative, only Diplomacy. If you have both skills at at least level 1 and check your standings, you'll see every single standing is modified by exactly one of these skills.

I think this produces an odd effect if you have less Connections than Diplomacy where, as your base standing flips from -0.01 to 0.01, your effective standing drops. Arguably the effective standing with non-negative base standing should never be lower than it would be with infinitesimally negative standing.

No, I mean in order to join FW, you need 0.00 or greater standings BEFORE skills are applied.

Are the Career agents repeatable at any point?
