After the Crius expansion July 22nd, alliance members can no longer do remote research.

Installations
Click on Installation
Click on line (you can highlight-select multiple lines, holding SHIFT or CTRL, or CTRL A for all)
Click on the button that appears at the bottom right: Manage Assembly Lines

No idea what happens to the line configuration after Crius.

So, is this expansion driving groups like NER (New Eden Research) out of business? I don't recall reading that alliance members couldn't use shared corp lines anymore.

It removes the ability for anyone to do remote research, the BPO must be in the array. This, in practice, removes this sort of sharing as it requires everyone have access to the array to place (and most importantly - remove) BPOs.

Manufacturing will also require a BPO/BPC to be present in the array. No more starting a job with your BPO/C in the safety of a station hanger in-system.

Yes, there was quite an uproar about it.

As BPO have to be in the lab / array after Crius, no remote research from a station is possible, and alliance members do not have access to corporate properties like labs and arrays.

Not to mention after Crius hits there will be no shortage of research lines in high sec, they are removing that feature basically giving every facility unlimited lines. Even if you could rent out slots after Crius, nobody would bother, as station slots will always be available.

That's ignoring the pretty huge reduction in costs and time you get from a pos lab versus an npc station. People would and will bother, but as has been stated, the mechanics behind renting slots are.... limited at best.
