Back in '06 not a lot of us had a clue. The whole concept of fitting was something reserved for the elite, and the minmaxers.. Most of us were left fumbling around in the dark.

After a few months break I re-joined to find my corp had moved from highsec to the mostly empty region of Paragon Soul, and was working the CDC alliance to establish one of the first outposts in the area.

Many weeks of mining and running supplies into the area occured. As a new, inexperienced player I had little. My pride and joy, a shiny Gallente Brutix, a ratting thorax, a mining barge and a hanful of modules represented the whole of my wordly posessions. They somehow were transported to null for me.. I brought myself down with my lone shuttle.

I would toil endlessly mining the null belts with buddy in a domi tanking the rats for me. When he was not availalbe I would make region go region 'warp to zero' bookmark sets and sell them to people for some ok money.

This was the days before jump freighters, so one day a friend issued a call in our intel channel: "Gang support needed to escort a freighter in from highsec". Well this sounded like a dangerous mission, so I joined the fleet (we called them gangs back then)..

I offered up my missioning thorax. he asked 'do you have anything better?' .. 'well I have a Brutix I replied' -- nervous to commit my pride and joy which I had sunk most of my savings into 'but it's not fit and there's nothing on market here'..

"That's OK", he replied. "We're mostly there to look scary. Just put a gun on it." Having little to no understanding of fitting anything other than a mining barge, I did as he commanded and hastily bolted on a few more mods that seemed like they could probably help.

We rolled out, met the jump freighter 25 jumps away and started escorting it back to null. about half way through a pirate gang started hunting us. Being new and inexperienced, I lost tactical awareness quickly and got pounced on by the gang. Most of our fleet, and the freighter was lost.

Ultimately the outpost got built, and we had great fun in null for several weeks, before BoB decided to end our fun once and for all. 'The Fall of Paragon Soul' disheartened most of us -- I quit the game for several years before returning and turning to piracy myself. Luckily I met up with some friendly Germans who taught me how to fit things properly, and ultimately landed in Shadow Cartel who've taken my game to a much higher level.

But I'll never for get my little Brutix, with it's lone artillery cannon. 'Paragon's Pride' was her name. R.I.P :)

My first and only loss was on 01-01-2014 at 00:00 EVE Time...also known as Happy Rue Year.

I purposely undocked as a suspect from Dodixie's main station in what is now known as a purple pinata. For those of you that don't know, that's all officer mods with a cargo full of goodies, too.

Needless to say, I lasted about 5 seconds since hundreds of hungry pirates were waiting for me. Oh, I advertised in Local that I would be doing this for weeks leading up to it. But even then, only 5 managed to get on the killmail.

My favorite part was probably watching CCP's estimated value system go haywire...and the Fedo surviving the blast!

So that's my only PVP story. Blink

My first pvp loss was due to being wardec'd multiple time over a month so we hired Mercs to get rid of the agressors..

I undocked and tackled a WT Domi on station while the Mercs waiting in the next system for it to agress..

my Brutix went boom, but op success =D

An Apocalype stole ore from me while I was mining in an Osprey but instead of attacking him I tried to blow up his can...which resulted in myself getting concordokkened. I then brought out a shitfit (I didn't think it was so bad at the time but dear god) Caracal to deal with his impudence! which again was concordokkened because I didn't know about the 15minute timer.

I was hanging out in Egghelende trying to find fights at the time it was pretty quiet, was flying about in a punisher and had setup some scan safes. Well I guess I idled too long at one while trying to Dscan a target out, and got probed by a Jaguar. Of course he wrecked me, but was a good first lesson in low sec survival, ie beware of probes, you aren't safe, even in "safes."

Highsec wardec, I was only several days old that time and proud as a god that I could fly cruisers.
Please note this epic shitfit : http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=3014459

The KM isn't correct, though, because there was at least one battleship involved. I know this because this was the first time I ever saw one in the game, and I was paralyzed with awe "Oh my, god, how huge this thing is! It's full of stars!"

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Losec with a Jaguar, friend in his Rifter. Arbitrator warps into our belt. This is before HP buffs and nos/web nerf.

It was over quickly. I was so mad i became a pirate and started killing other people in lose using rifters, jags and ruptures. Best decision ever.

My first loss was in 2005. I don't remember the system but some lowsec system between different parts of highsec. I had gone and got my self a full set of learning implants (probably +2 considering I was still saving for a BC). Autopiloted back for some reason and got both popped and podded.

My first combat loss was a losing a crow to a caracal in EC-P8R a few months later, I don't really remember the details of that loss sadly. But it's still available on the killboards unlike the first one: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=970225

Was pretty nooby back then. Thought to mine in a 0.5 system with my Retriever. It had no anti-gank fitting at all really. Almost got owned by belt-rats hence half of the ships shield was already gone when thoose pesky CODE guys chimed in and decided to pop the ship and pod.

At the time it was quite a big loss..especially the implants...but at least I got wiser...

Atron. Basically doing noob tackle for wspace defense of our hole and "took one for the team". Have improved tackle, Frigates and Interceptors since then, and I'm a little more cautious about picking targets now as well.

That said, there's something to be said for the thrill of scramwebbing and watching them rush to try and pick you off as your friends are plugging away at them numerous sorts of weaponry. :) You may lose your ship (and sometimes, even your pod) but watching the killmail amounts compared is overall very satisfying... (especially when it's a blingy ship)

TL;DR If you didn't read the entire post perhaps you're probably ADHD. (seek help)

Lowsec, thought I'd try PvP with a friend. Both got into a 'frigate killer' catalyst.

Warped into belt. targeted frig we found. it turned out to have friends. Got pointed and webbed by an inty that I couldn't event hit with my guns, and popped in no time by an AF that I couldn't target cause dampers.

At the time it felt so unfair. Can't hit, Can't target. LAAAME.

Low-Sec, again. I was a new player and found Low-Sec for the first time. I was aware that I needed to be aware, so when I arrived at a belt, I was immediately pounced by a pirate. He was bad at tackle, so I escaped. When I made it to the station, he also arrived. I docked, then he delivered the normal "fear speak" in local to me. There was something unsettling about running away from a fight, since I live and die for pvp, so I undocked my ship (Omen?), and let it be destroyed by my aggressor. He was confused, and ultimately gave me some advice which I am just taking 2 years later, and have been pvping a lot over the last few weeks.

hmmm... interesting.
seems my first PVP loss of a ship was an hurricane with T1 fit.
as the story goes I was bored so I went into lowsec without checking maps and such... only roaming solo around.

then I've found some nice dude solo in cruiser... I engaged almost had him then his 2-3 friends came through the gate and thus I learned about "Baits".
Was fun though.

Something about not understanding the difference between a pvp fit drake and a pve fit drake. And some vodka. Don't remember the details clearly.

I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon
