The problem with the 1st year is you simply do not know the "basic core skills" to have as well as the nuances of this game. It leads to a tremendous loss of time and inadequate skill training.

I originally marveled in a separate forum string when people would say they could have a ship up and ready for fighting in 4 to 6 weeks, no problem. Of course a player with 4-5-6 years experience can do that, they know the in's and out's of the game. They've forgotten what it's like to have to figure these thing out as a beginner.
