As I Celebrate almost 10,000 kills of the unwary in Eve, I turned inward to contemplate old times. I remember fondly the pre-retribution(patch) days. We've seen the introduction of MJD's....which changed things for the better or worse. Then there's portable tractor units (worst idea ever),stealing all the loot they can get their grubby hands on. Marauders and bastion mode....meh. Way too expensive mordus legion and SOE ships....bah.
For those who remember the days of the old hull of the Absolution. When global suspect timers were just a silly pipe dream. These are the times I remember most fondly in Eve and I find it criminal and punishable for such an offense to change our game. We've adapted but a lot of people have left it seems.
Today I see that plexes are 820 million isk, we have a smaller player base, and the loss of a lot of good people in the community of the forums, even personal haters who I miss most fondly.
We need a turnaround in the degrading state of Eve.

How to :

ArrowTell totally random people to buy characters on the character bizarre and to "give it a try" Lol
ArrowMass petition CCP to undue some horribad changes (global suspect timer for example) What?
ArrowMake my absolution the prophecy hull again....please? Cry
ArrowMine and freight more to bring down plex prices Roll

I like the Eve monument however and need my name continuously polished by a well-paid custodian.

I remember the day PLEX were about 300 mil (I think)... I like many of the changes but some I hate. CCP has a difficult job of having to constantly improve the game. I'm more of the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" type but games don't stay alive that way. You will keep some core players but after a while people get bored and find other things. Lets face it many people have the attention span of a squirrel. They need shiny objects to keep them focused on the game.

There is also the nature of the cliff to consider. There are usually three or four "back after a year" return posts in the S&M group in any given month. So there are those who are coming back now and again. And the effects of the summer war did bring in large numbers of new players from the BBC coverage.

So maybe the answer is more shakeup and not less. Shrug it is idle speculation but a big change to SOV (as has been begged for a million times) which would result in the collapse of the rental empires might just be the medicine Eve needs. Big epic third world fights in the streets of the coalition spaces. Not just a couple week deployment here or there to harass locals. Get those big fights going around the clock and all over the place and inspire new would be warlords and despots.

But who knows that idea has equal chance of being the cofin nail that shuts the doors forever.

I remember when you could make a living off piracy, and ransoms were honored, and 300 ship fleets would make the hamsters cry and crash the node, and you only had to be able to fly 3 ships to win in PVP, and..and....and....

I've had a few magic moments in gaming...

- The first time in an 'open' game, Morrowind, I walked to Vivic and saw those huge cantons rising out of the mist thinking.."WHAT THE F IS THAT?"

- My first solo fight in EvE, mission-flipping in a Punisher and a cruiser agressing me. My heart pounding as I was alone, and it was either him or me. Pounding I tell you, pounding...

- Half way through The Last of Us, when for the first time I actually felt something for a games characters and story as it developed.

Key for me is my EvE special moment was driven by fuckery. I am sad to see avenues for said opportunities of heart-pounding moments being slowly taken away from new players discovering them, by the slow boiling of the frog, and CCP's road to nerfdom.

Not saying sitting in a dread and being hot-dropped isn't heart pounding, but I simply see any reduction in conflict generators as bad for EvE and its health.

When all the pansies like Ripard Teg are no longer sitting on CSM's and nodding sagely as CCP continues to nerf hisec in pursuit of moar WoW subs, we will have peace.

When wars become a meaningful mechanic, with closing of exploits allowing people to duck them by dropping corp, we will have peace.

When content creators like Erotica 1, who are the lifeblood of EvE's special sauce making it...special, are no longer being banned for 'being the villian' just like CCP told them to be, then, we shall have peace.

Or not. (Has Last of Us remastered for 1080p/60fps come out yet?)

Global suspect timer is great, it turns high-sec into something other than a playground for wimps.
