Please document the file format for the test scenes, so eve movie makers can use this to make awesome movies!

will it also serve as benchmark? With an endscreen showing points and stuff? It might have 0 use for us but if it would make it into the hardware tests sites it would be free advertising for eve. I hope you add an download eve button to it :P

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Looking forward to this.

I can run this on numerous platforms as soon as I can get my hands on the software.

Let me know if I can help!

10/10 Would get Probed again

When (or before or after) the probe is released, is there anyway that some sort of information could be given about how players could most helpfully use it? For instance, presumably it will be helpful if players ran it on all their computers, old rigs and new rigs and laptops and tablets, etc., but will it also be helpful it players ran the probe under different configurations and system settings? Or is the data not going to be that fine-grained?
To this end, it might help players using the probe if we were informed about exactly which specs and stats were collected (e.g. someone above wondered if GPU temperatures would be collected).

Is probe the first step toward graphic improvements, HD textures?

For sure it's the first step toward graphics stabilization and bugfixing...

If we promise to download and use it, can we get the high-resolution texture packs?

Fix POSes.  Every player should want one (even if all players can't have one).

Here is an idea. Let us "record" scenes from the game and play them back with EVE Probe.

This idea I like a lot.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Would love if the probe gave some sort of score number on how good the puter is, I think the community might love comparing how good their hardware is, by who has the biggest score. Also would be cool if it was possible to run multiple instances, to see how many clients the computer could handle.

Additional feature could be recommended settings for EVE once the analysis is complete.

Agree with these!!

Yes - an EVE "Battlerecorder" (a la Battefield 2142) would be most excellent. luv u long time

Since you're investigating graphics optimizations, can you do something about gas clouds? Take the Angel 10/10 site with that super dense and bright cloud. It lags me out every time.

will it be possible to release a copy with Screensaver mode? I would love to have random space scenes playing on the computer when i am working on my other systems or away from the keyboard.

Not really related to this work but if you file a bug report with the details of the site I'll make sure it goes to the relevant people. :)

Yes, it will! We've already implemented this - it was suggested at Fanfest and we loved the idea.

This is awesome! I've been waiting for something like this. Would be wicked if it gave us feedback on how we could improve our graphics potential. :)
