not really a missile guy, but i have i do have a weird obsession with HAMs

so i was looking at different ships that could best use them etc

for pve purposes, the drake is better, but who gives a damn about pve, amirite

so for pvp, between the drake and cyclone, which ship is better suited for the job (job being killing all the things and being able to live) ? it seems to me it would be the cyclone as active tanking is almost awlays better than buffer,,, but i wanted to see what other people had to say (:

Wait a cyclone vs a what?

this other thing you are talking about, never heard of it but the cyclone has this shield boost bonus which helps if you go active tank. If you like buffer tanks more, those asb shield boosters make good use of this bonus too.

This Drake is this a new ship?

Cyclone is pretty strong in PvP. Squeeze an XLASB on there and go to town.

It also has the advantage of not having the reputation that the drake does, so you're more likely to get fights since people won't be as scared of you.

Google for post retribution battlecruiser fits. Abadon21 has a blog post with a reasonable cyclone fit.

If you compare a buffer Drake to a single XLASB Cyclone both with HAMs, you'll find the Cyclone has better speed and agility, more buffer after 1 magazine of the ASB, bigger dronebay, a medium+small neut, full tackle as well, and is about 10mil cheaper. Cyclone does around 70 less dps but it is not locked into just kinetic damage so if you manage to switch ammo before a fight it's most likely the same (or better if you fight something like a T2 Gallente ship). The Cyclone is also far more versatile, you can go for a double ASB fit (either 2 LASBs, 1 XLASB+1LASB or 2 XLASBs are all good combos), a buffer fit with dual medium neuts and still 50k+ EHP, or you can use a DG XL Booster + Cap booster for more sustained tank over time and other more niche fits as well.

So yeah, personally, I'd never fly a HAM Drake over a HAM Cyclone if I had the choice, the only thing the Drake has going for it is better protection against alpha, but honestly if there's that much alpha on the field you're likely dead regardless of what ship you're flying.

The Caldari tend to name their ships after birds, it's therefore far more likely that the Drake refers to a male duck... Which also has little chance in direct conflict with a storm of that magnitude.

And look over here, where we have the Ferox... which can be a fish, a spider, a turtle, a lizardfish, a fossa, or a sand shark at any given time. Clearly it is a shape-shifting avian in an effort to disguise itself.

Since when are cerberus, wyvern, Leviathan, chimera, scorpion, ferox names of birds?

Everyone knows male ducks are rapists, so clearly not named after ducks.
